The British Royals Celebrate Christmas
Aw! Hand-holding and arm-clutching, all in one shot. It's a Christmas...well, it's not a miracle. But it is a Christmas DELIGHT. (Harry looks a bit chilly in his overcoat; in other off-topic observations, I like how Philip and Lady Louise always seem sort of bonded. I know they both enjoy carriage driving, so in my imagination they spend a lot of time at these events in a corner talking about...I dunno. Wheels? Whatever you might talk about if you're an aficionado of carriages.)

This has to be VERY surreal for Meghan. What do we think of her hat? Pushing an American right bang into hat wearing -- and not just Casual Hat Wearing, FULL BRITISH ROYALTY CHRISTMAS HAT-WEARING is truly tossing someone off the deep end and making them swim. I like to file this one into "Hats That Vaguely Look Like Pepperidge Farm Pirouettes," a category of hats that Kate also enjoys on occasion.

I LOVE Kate's coat. It is PROFOUNDLY festive. I think it was wise of Meghan to go for something subdued -- it's her first outing with the whole family, and everyone's going to be looking at her regardless. She LOVES this shape of coat -- it's a bit Glamorous Bathrobe, in silhouette, as was the coat she wore when they announced their engagement. I hope she and Kate have also tackled the subject, I Keep Buying The Same Thing Over And Over Again; Is That So Bad?

Anne, as ever, looks sharp. I'm sure there were several suspects to question at church, if my understanding of British mysteries is correct. (My entire understanding comes from Masterpiece Mystery.)

Eugenie's coat is GLAM, and her over-the-knee boots are rather low-key shocking; related, can we talk about what's going on with HER romantic situation? I thought she and that dude were going to be engaged by now. She's very young, obviously, but...it's the holidays, and that's when you gossip about other people's romantic prospects, right? I LOVE Bea's hat; it would actually look good with Euj's coat, too. And Sophie looks dramatic and romantic, though she might be a little chilly?

This feels very Benevolent Secondary Character In a Keira Knightley Period Piece, no? Related: I hope Gillian plays Sophie when we get to that season of The Crown. (I mean, she IS dating Peter Morgan.)

I appreciate Charles pointing AND laughing when Prince Andrew lost his hat.

VERY good showing from Autumn Phillips and little Isla Phillips -- and, no, George and Charlotte did not attend. My theory is that they were total lunatics this morning and Kate and Wills decided it was better to leave them home than to have them ruin Christmas services by running amok.

This is TERRIFICALLY zing-y -- a shout-out to the orange in your stocking. Merry Christmas to one and all!
