There's been much chatter about whether this was an accident. Soon, on this very street, there will be hundreds of people eyeballing her. I guess we'll simply never know. Related: Diana screws up whom to curtsey to when in this scene, and I'll just note that the Spencers are very VERY very very very posh and aristocratic -- certain snobby subsets would and have argued they are posher than the current royal family -- and one of the oldest fancy families in Britain, so I suspect Diana certainly would have known to curtsey to the Queen before anything else. Not real!!" and Diana is like, "wait. Rewind. What?" It's Diana's classic sheep sweater -- [which you can buy again](https://rowingblazers.com/products/sheep-sweater-womens?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)! I confess that I sincerely do want this sweater. ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/Screen-Shot-2020-11-22-at-1.34.55-PM-1606093874-scaled.jpg) Diana also goes for a great deal of tiny Liberty prints, which is quite of its era. (And, of course, subtextually speaking, consistently putting her in Liberty is pleasantly ironic.) This is a moment from Diana's Princess Training at the hands of her Grandmother, who is explaining the many staff members at the place. (I thought it was interesting that they included a scene where the Queen refuses to do this Princess Training, which I think is meant to make her look mean. But honestly the Queen actually does not have time to teach anyone how to curtesy and if she were a man NO ONE would be asking her to teach Mark Phillips which fish fork to use.) ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/Screen-Shot-2020-11-22-at-1.49.33-PM-1606093888-scaled.jpg) Emerald Fennell is tremendous in this scene AND she is dealing with a wig situation that nearly obscures her entire face. ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/11/Screen-Shot-2020-11-22-at-2.16.36-PM-1606093902-scaled.jpg) I knew Diana was eventually going to trash this set-up, and she wasn't wrong to do so. It's absolutely suffocating (as much as I personally love getting flowers). I also thought it was interesting that they've got her reading ALL her mail, and I wonder -- surely that was all pre-screened, right? So she got the nice letters from cute children and NOT the surely crackpot letters from lunatics?
