Happy Wednesday, friends! The Emmy nominations are out -- yes, I know[ it feels like we *just had* the Emmys](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/p/the-best-the-worst-the-most-and-the-299); those were the rescheduled writers-strike 2023 Emmys. *These* are the 2024 Emmys. A plethora of Emmys! Here are your nominations. Spoiler: It's A LOT of *The Bear.* (Reminder: [We are recapping *The Bear* at Drinks With Broads.](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/t/the-bear))

**Outstanding Comedy Series**

*Abbott Elementary*
*The Bear*
*Curb Your Enthusiasm*
*Hacks*
*Only Murders in the Building*
*Palm Royale*
*Reservation Dogs*
*What We Do in the Shadows*

Cue our usual discussion about how it's insane that *Abbott* and *The Bear* are in the same bucket. (In fact, although I love *The Bear,* it's ABSOLUTELY the odd man out here, tonally. It will, however, win.)

**Outstanding Drama Series**

*The Crown*
*Fallout*
*The Gilded Age*
*The Morning Show*
*Mr. and Mrs. Smith*
*Shōgun*
*Slow Horses*
*3 Body Problem*

I've made the joke many times that I have reached the part in my life where I'll log onto Twitter (or whatever) and someone will be like, "I cannot believe those bastards cancelled *Fahrvergnügen*!!! It's the GREATEST" and I'll be like, WTF is *Fahrvergnügen* and I'll Google and it will be in, like, it's 4th season. If you're like me: *Fallout* is on Amazon Prime. I guess it's good!!!

**Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series**
*Baby Reindeer*
*Fargo*
*Lessons in Chemistry*
*Ripley*
*True Detective: Night Country*

**Outstanding Reality Competition Program**
*The Amazing Race*
*RuPaul’s Drag Race*
*Top Chef*
*The Traitors*
*The Voice*

**Outstanding Scripted Variety Series**
*Last Week Tonight with John Oliver*
*Saturday Night Live*

Cue the shit-talking between these two staffs!!! (The plural of that word feels like it should be *staves*.)

**Outstanding Talk Series**
*The Daily Show*
*Jimmy Kimmel Live!*
*Late Night with Seth Meyers*
*The Late Show with Stephen Colbert*

**Outstanding Television Movie**
*Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie*
*Quiz Lady*
*Red, White & Royal Blue*
*Scoop*
*Unfrosted*

I heard *Unfrosted* was TERRIBLE. But yay for the folks at *Red, White & Royal Blue* \-- more people should make TV adaptations of books about fictional royals, I believe!! [I have some suggestions!](https://amzn.to/3W0VHq4?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \-- and [I'm delighted for the *Quiz Lady*](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/p/a-drinks-with-broads-interview-screenwriter) team.

**Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series**

*Abbott Elementary —* “Party”
*The Bear —* “Fishes”
*The Bear —* “Honeydew”
*The Gentlemen* — “Refined Aggression”
*Hacks —* “Bulletproof”
*The Ms. Pat Show* — “I’m the Pappy”

*The Ms. Pat Show* is on BET+, in case you were wondering. *The Gentleman* is on Netflix and stars Theo James. I know I've had a lot going on lately but also where have I been?

**Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series**
*The Crown —* “Sleep, Dearie Sleep”
*The Morning Show —* “The Overview Effect”
*Mr. and Mrs. Smith* — “First Date”
*Shōgun* — “Crimson Sky”
*Slow Horses* — “Strange Games”
*Winning Time* — “Beat L.A.”

I *do* need to watch *Shōgun* badly.

*Fargo* — “The Tragedy of the Commons”
*Feud: Capote vs. The Swans —* “Pilot”

*Ripley*
*True Detective: Night Country*

[A reminder that we also recapped *Feud* and I hated it!](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/t/feud)! However: The pilot is excellent.

**Outstanding Directing for a Variety Series**
*The Daily Show —* “Jon Stewart Returns to the Daily Show”
*Jimmy Kimmel Live! — “*Trump Still Mad About Oscars Joke And Thinks Jimmy Is Al Pacino, Chris Stapleton’s Ballad For John Stamos, Guest Rob McElhenney & The Return Of Our Outdoor Stage!”

*Ripley*
*True Detective: Night Country —* “Part 6”

**Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series**
*The Daily Show*
*Last Week Tonight with John Oliver*

There will also be trash-talking between these two staffs. Staves? Staffs. *Dwarves are very upsetting.*

**Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series**
Matt Berry — *What We Do in the Shadows*
Larry David — *Curb Your Enthusiasm*
Steve Martin — *Only Murders in the Building*
Martin Short — *Only Murders in the Building*
Jeremy Allen White — *The Bear*
D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai — *Reservation Dogs*

JAW will take this but all these people are good! I can't wait to see Larry David make his curmudgeon faces there in the audience. If he even goes.

**Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series**
Idris Elba — *Hijack*
Donald Glover — *Mr. and Mrs. Smith*
Walton Goggins — *Fallout*
Gary Oldman — *Slow Horses*
Hiroyuki Sanada — *Shōgun*
Dominic West — *The Crown*

IDRIS ELBA ALSO HAS A SHOW OMG WHERE *AM* I? (It's on AppleTV+; it is, yes, about a hijacked plane.)

**Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie**
Matt Bomer — *Fellow Travelers*
Richard Gadd — *Baby Reindeer*
Jon Hamm — *Fargo*

**Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series**
Quinta Brunson — *Abbott Elementary*
Ayo Edebiri — *The Bear*
Selena Gomez — *Only Murders in the Building*
Maya Rudolph — *Loot*
Jean Smart — *Hacks*
Kristen Wiig — *Palm Royale*

Good for Selena for sneaking in here!

**Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series**
Jennifer Aniston — *The Morning Show*
Carrie Coon — *The Gilded Age*
Maya Erskine — *Mr. and Mrs. Smith*
Anna Sawai — *Shōgun*
Imelda Staunton — *The Crown*
Reese Witherspoon — *The Morning Show*

**Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie**
Jodie Foster — *True Detective: Night Country*
Brie Larson — *Lessons in Chemistry*
Juno Temple — *Fargo*
Sofía Vergara — *Griselda*
Naomi Watts — *Feud: Capote vs. The Swans*

I will say that as much as I bitch about *Feud*, the performances were not the issue; Naomi Watts WAS amazing in that part.

**Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series**
Lionel Boyce — *The Bear*
Paul W. Downs — *Hacks*
Ebon Moss-Bachrach — *The Bear*
Paul Rudd — *Only Murders in the Building*
Tyler James Williams — *Abbott Elementary*
Bowen Yang — *Saturday Night Live*

I don't like to see Marcus and Richie pitted against each other!!!

**Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series**
Tadanobu Asano — *Shōgun*
Billy Crudup — *The Morning Show*
Mark Duplass — *The Morning Show*
John Hamm — *The Morning Show*

Jack Lowden — *Slow Horses*
Jonathan Pryce — *The Crown*

**Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie**
Jonathan Bailey — *Fellow Travelers*
Robert Downey Jr. — *The Sympathizer*
Tom Goodman-Hill — *Baby Reindeer*
John Hawkes — *True Detective: Night Country*
Lamorne Morris — *Fargo*
Lewis Pullman — *Lessons in Chemistry*
Treat Williams — *Feud: Capote vs. The Swans*

**Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series**
Carol Burnett — *Palm Royale*
Liza Colón-Zayas — *The Bear*
Hannah Einbinder — *Hacks*
Janelle James — *Abbott Elementary*
Sheryl Lee Ralph — *Abbott Elementary*
Meryl Streep — *Only Murders in the Building*

Some REAL heavy hitters here. If I were Hannah Einbinder, I'd be like, "I'm up against MERYL? AND CAROL? AND SHERYL? THEY EVEN RHYME."

**Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series**
Christine Baranski — *The Gilded Age*
Nicole Beharie — *The Morning Show*
Elizabeth Debicki — *The Crown*
Greta Lee — *The Morning Show*
Lesley Manville — *The Crown*
Karen Pittman — *The Morning Show*
Holland Taylor — *The Morning Show*

I don't THINK Baranski will win this? (Although the *Crowns* and *Morning Shows* might cancelled each other out.) But she was VERY entertaining on this season of [*The Gilded Age*](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/t/the-gilded-age). I can only assume this was on the strength of her yelling, "[don't tell me how to speak to my own butler!!!!"](https://drinkswithbroads.substack.com/p/agnes-is-getting-upset-on-this-episode) I will note that while *The Gilded Age* is a drama, I might almost call this performance a comedy.

**Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie**
Dakota Fanning — *Ripley*
Lily Gladstone — *Under the Bridge*
Jessica Gunning — *Baby Reindeer*
Aja Naomi King — *Lessons in Chemistry*
Diane Lane — *Feud: Capote vs. The Swans*
Nava Mau — *Baby Reindeer*
Kali Reis — *True Detective: Night Country*

Thoughts? Mine is that we're at least gonna get a *great* red carpet come September 15th.
