So this is... it might be big pants and a drapey half-gown of a shirt, or it's all a dress; doesn't really matter. It's a heavy dump of taupe (I heard it described as olive, but it seems browner than that to me), and frankly, any fabric that makes Angelina Jolie swim upstream in order to make it sing is truly woven from hell's cotton. But the styling isn't helping. The model wore it with a bunch of chunky necklaces, and they make an impact; Angie and her team could have done MUCH cooler work here to elevate the drab, beyond just the lip jewelry. Somehow it barely registers. I thought it was a smudge on my monitor until the close-up...
I couldn't find anything about what this means or what it is, as of this writing -- I will update, if I can -- but I still would have made other styling choices.

Angelina said her kids are all wearing either vintage or stuff she she "upcycled" from her own closet. And in fact, I do actually recognize Zahara's dress from the 2014 Oscars. We always joke about celebrity kids eventually getting to play in mom or dad's closet, and it's fun that it actually happened.

I am not sure if it's good or terrible that I knew who this was going to be JUST based on a photo of her shoe. But Salma always wears those shoes in one color or another. It had to be her. And it was.

The previous photo also gave the gold sequin detail that this one is mostly missing. The fact that her dress is lined thusly is amazing and luxe, and there were other photos that showed it more but they came in later and I'd already grabbed this one. For SUCH a long time, the various companies her husband owns did TERRIBLY wrong by her, and I'm delighted to see them doing right this time.
She brought her daughter Valentina, also, who is a really even blend of Salma and her husband. She looks cute.

Purple was truly the color of the night for the gents. Also, Sam was one of my favorite parts of Veep AND delivered one of the funniest burn-it-all-down I'm-outta-here scenes of Ted Lasso's second season, and it's amazing to me that those two VERY DIFFERENT THINGS came from the same actor. I suppose that's why they call it acting. He looks superb here.

AND THIS. Oh my gosh, it's beautiful. This handmade sherwani has a lovely story behind it, involving his mom helping him locate a Pakistani designer to make it for him. (Also interesting: His stylist is Jeanne Yang, who worked with Katie Holmes for a long time and even had a fashion line with her, which did not last; this is far more adept and beautiful than anything those two worked on together.)

Because it LOOKS like she's wearing black platforms -- or, whatever it is there, it's giving the illusion that she's hovering slightly off the ground.

That skirt is perfect. Again, she's easing out of Virtual Awards in Overalls and into Fancy Red Carpet Events very gracefully -- this is clearly dressy and expensive and thought-out, but she's not suddenly being forced to go all Richard Quinn on us. It's what's natural to her, and I like it.
