Mindy Kaling in Naeem Khan

Mindy does not seem to have walked the red carpet (even though she is an honoree, which is... odd?) so the only full-length photo I saw is on her own Instagram. Maybe that was the idea. Regardless, good news: This finishes exactly as well as it started. It's fab.

Michelle Yeoh

A goddess, always and forever. She does not miss. And even if she did, we'd probably be like, 'Eh, it's not a MISS, it's more of a PRACTICE SHOT.'

Kelly Marie Tran and Carlos Lopez Estrada

I had to look up what this was, and it's so neat: They're wearing the cover images from a NYT Bestseller called Rise: A Pop History of Asian America From the 90s Until Now. That is SUCH a clever idea and it's awesome that they went all-out and executed on it.

Adele Lim and Chris Pang

I'll be honest, a harness is never what I would call a pleasant surprise, but the rest is so good -- I'm charmed by the metallic lace-up shoes. And he is reliably dapper.

Arden Cho in Leehwa

This was described by both her and the designer as a modern hanbok, custom made for her as a nod to her Korean heritage, and it's beautiful.

Auli'i Cravalho

This seems like she chose it to be a basic backdrop for the jewelry, which she took pains to show for the cameras (like any good ambassador would).

Leah Lewis

Beautiful. (I warned you! Sometimes there isn't much to say other than a single word.)

Geena Rocero

You know I am a sucker for a sparkly pattern and a rich hue.

Alex and Maia Shibutani

These fresh-faced 19-year olds are, in fact, 27 (her) and 31 (him). I KNOW. The Shib Sibs are suspended in time.

Ally Maki

Don't sleep on gloves as a major trend of the year. They're everywhere, in every style, and every color.

Bella Poarch in Jason Wu

Case in point! Although all of her outfit manages to be beside the point when you consider...

... her EXTREMELY cool purse. I don't have a credit on it, but it's intricate and unusual and unlike anything that anyone else carried.

Daniel Dae Kim

I am always happy to see his face. JIN LIVES. It might be my turn for a Lost rewatch soon.

Chloe Bennet

Gorgeous. (I didn't recognize her as a blond!)

Chloe Kim

This color makes me think of frosty lime drinks on a hot summer day. (When I was a kid, I feel like we used to make them with Country Time lime mix? Am I hallucinating?) So, it's refreshing to me, is what I'm saying.

Ashley Park

That sliver of sideboob seems... potentially difficult to wrangle. It could blow at any moment.

Maitreyi Ramakrishnan

This is pretty, but also pretty simple, and so I wish someone had draped her in major jewels.

Darren Barnet

That really pale... lilac, is it? It's not a tux color you see much. Good on him for branching out. (He's on Never Have I Ever.)

Domee Shi

Ooh, that embroidery is amazing.

Harry Shum Jr. and Shelby Rabara

I am so happy that they're apparently trying to make the Crazy Rich Asians sequels into movies that are really more Astrid-focused, as she is the meat of the story anyway -- and that means Harry Shum ought FINALLY to get his moment, right?!?

Henry Golding and Liv Lo

Henry looks like he's REALLY considering a career as a buccaneer.

Ian Anthony Dale

At first I thought the pin on his jacket had tiny medals of honor on it, but no, they're charms.

Jeannie Mai Jenkins

Another dress with a lot of really regal craftsmanship.

Kara Wang

And I am obviously going to get behind this.

Liza Soberano

This has great Young Disney Villainess vibes. We've done Maleficent to death, so let's write her a fresh one.

Midori Francis

This design is a little overwhelming.

Miki Rai

I love that. Snag it for a beach wedding, somebody.

Payal Kadakia

Payal is the founder of ClassPass, and was honored at the gala for that. The skirt here is made by a company called Manshaa, whose Instagram has lots of intricate close-ups of other outfits, and is -- as of this writing -- doing that thing where it's carefully crafted so that each square makes sense in a bigger picture as well. I highly recommend looking at it, once you've stared at this one for a good long while.

Poorna Jagannathan

There is a lovely idea on the fabric. It's a hoik away from a dream.

Ramona Young

This is washing her out, which is saying something given that she is also wearing colorful makeup. It doesn't all add up for me.

Richa Moorjani

Oooh, but this does. That material is amazing.

Sherry Cola

Bathroom wallpaper, here we come.

Stephanie Hsu

We made it THIS FAR without sheers! I'm proud of us all.

Sujata Day

Love the skirt, love the shoes, kind of wish the shirt was a formal white button-down Sharon Stone situation.

Tia Carrere

Tia always looks like she has the best stories, and that she KNOWS you are dying to ask her what they are. She is correct.
