# The Latest Guest Designer at Gaultier Was Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha's collections are not usually my cup of tea. Sometimes [they're fine, if a little fiddly](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/gotham-awards-part-1-2/33rd-annual-gotham-awards-9?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), but then sometimes [there's a lot of strapping](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/scottish-baftas/bafta-scotland-awards-arrivals-glasgow-scotland-uk-20-nov-2022-4?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and/or [Maisie Williams ends up in bespoke fingerless potholders](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/more-from-london-front-rows/rocha-fr-po-s24-006-1695171388?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). Some of [her designs for this](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/front-row-roundup/jean-paul-gaultier-photocall-paris-fashion-week-haute-couture-spring-summer-2024-8?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) really echo [stuff she did on her own time](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/bafta-non-neutrals/the-bafta-tea-party-presented-by-delta-air-lines-virgin-atlantic-and-bbc-studios-los-angeles-productions-red-carpet-4?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), but by and large this collection does feel like a fusion of her identity and Gaultier's, and I guess... that was probably the assignment? But I have a hard time appreciating very much of it on any of its own aesthetic merits. And I jumped in my chair when I got to slide 6's lips and eyebrows. (Not the model's own. You'll see.)
