The animated film boasts Jack Black as the voice of Po the panda, who works in his family's noodle shop and dreams of becoming a kung-fu master. His dream becomes a reality when, unexpectedly, he must fulfill an ancient prophecy and study the skills with his idols, the Furious Five. Po needs all the wisdom, strength and ability he can muster to protect his people from an evil snow leopard. The USA Network (who's tagline is Character's Welcome) and the Aperture Foundation commissioned a group of eleven photographers to create a celebration of the characters that make our country unique. Each photographer was encouraged to bring their unique style to each portrait and infuse their own professional eye with the character of their subjects. The subjects range from a young football player and a homecoming queen to organic farmers in the Northwest and patrons of a quiet barbershop. Photographers include legends like Sylvia Plachy and Mary Ellen Mark, amongst many others.
