Well, there is no more wondering to do. Oscar noms came out yesterday, and *Sinners* made history with 16 nominations that I DEEPLY DEEPLY hope yields victories in major categories. The biggest surprise may have been that *Wicked*: *For Good* got zero Oscar nominations. ZERO. Splitting it into two parts unnecessarily was a money grab, for sure, but also a blatant attempt to double their awards chances -- especially after they added original songs to part two so that they could get into that category. And they did NOT. I may have chortled.

Also, look how FANTASTIC Danielle Brooks looks up there, announcing the nominees! What an absolute babe and star.

**Best Picture**
*Bugonia* (Focus Features)
*F1* (Apple)
*Frankenstein* (Netflix)
*Hamnet* (Focus Features)
*Marty Supreme* (A24)
*One Battle After Another*
*The Secret Agent* (Neon)
*Sentimental Value* (Neon)
*Sinners* (Warner Bros.)
*Train Dreams* (Netflix)

Kevin was bummed that *It Was Just An Accident* didn't get in. I remain puzzled by the heat on *The Secret Agent;* I, too, preferred *IWJAA*, and maybe actively didn't like *Secret Agent*. Doesn't matter, though. This one, based on vibes from previous shows, is *One Battle* vs. *Sinners*, and while I've not seen Sinners yet, I sure am not rooting for *OBAA*.

**Best Director**
Chloé Zhao, *Hamnet*
Josh Safdie, Marty *Supreme*
Paul Thomas Anderson, One *Battle After Another*
Joachim Trier, Sentimental *Value*
Ryan Coogler, *Sinners*

Ugh. PTA is probably going to win this, but I hope not.

**Best Actor**
Timothée Chalamet in *Marty Supreme*
Leonardo DiCaprio in *One Battle After Another*
Ethan Hawke in *Blue Moon*
Michael B. Jordan in *Sinners*
Wagner Moura in *The Secret Agent*

COME ON, MBJ.

**Best Actress**
Jessie Buckley in *Hamnet*
Rose Byrne in *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*
Kate Hudson in *Song Sung Blue*
Renate Reinsve in *Sentimental Value*
Emma Stone in *Bugonia*

COME ON, ROSE BYRNE. Nothing against Jessie Buckley at all, I've heard and believe that she is phenomenal. But Rose's entire performance is given with the camera pretty much right up in her face and she couldn’t afford to hit a false note, and indeed does not hit one. It is an all-timer.

**Best Supporting Actor**
Benicio Del Toro in *One Battle After Another*
Jacob Elordi in *Frankenstein*
Delroy Lindo in *Sinners*
Sean Penn in *One Battle After Another*
Stellan Skarsgard in *Sentimental Value*

I don't really get Benicio in here? His character is fine and he's fine but was it really much of a part? I love Delroy Lindo sneaking in here and think it would be fantastic if he wins; everything I've heard is that he's tremendous. I plan to watch *Sinners* this weekend.

**Best Supporting Actress**
Elle Fanning in *Sentimental Value*
Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas in *Sentimental Value*
Amy Madigan in *Weapons*
Wunmi Mosaku in *Sinners*
Teyana Taylor in *One Battle After Another*

Teyana is good but I don't looooove that part...? This one, I think, is going to be fascinating between the last three on the list, with Mosaku as more of an outside shot.
