The Rest of the 2017 VMAs

Demi Lovato

Demi actually taped this two days before the show, so I didn't find these pictures because I was looking under the wrong date. OH WELL. She sounded great, but she chose to wear... chaps over a bathing suit, which is only a necessary look if you ride dolphins like they are horses.

It was also very awkward when she was filmed from the side.

And when she squatted. I feel like DO NOT SQUAT should be printed on the box when you buy these. (Do chaps come in boxes?)

Keyshia Cole

I had not heard of her, but I gather Keyshia has had several reality shows and... something of a music career? I don't know. That dress is a reality show, I'll tell you what.

Hailey Baldwin

Hailey wore boots over a sheer jumpsuit during the telecast, and... apparently a jumpsuit over wrinkled panties on the red carpet. I know a lot of people hate that word, and I kind of do, too, but something about the way those look just screams "panties." Like Anthony Michael Hall is going to charge people a dollar to see them in the school bathroom.

ENOUGH.

Tiffany Haddish

Why do bad sheers happen to good people?!?

Teyana Taylor

Apparently, this was an homage to something Janet Jackson wore in 1995. I'm not sure why, other than that they both won Best Dance Video -- Teyana, on Sunday night, while she was on the red carpet. The hosts literally handed her the statue and she was like, "What?" Except now that I know she did the Janet homage, it feels like she had to have been faking not knowing. I cannot believe TV would ever tell a lie.

Sofia Carson

That neck ruffle really wants to be a lei someday.

Christina Milian

That's actually fairly pretty, but I have notes: Don't bother with the straps if you're not going to... bother with the straps. Also, PUT YOUR LIPS BACK ON.

Lil Mama

Remember when she used to dress up like an actual baby? Anything is better.

Bebe Rexha

I still haven't heard one of her songs, but MTV was all up in her grill, and consequently, her pizza was up in ours.

Laura Marano

I feel like we've been hearing she has an album coming out for ages, but it keeps... not appearing? What's up? Perhaps her suit is intending to suggest that she feels chained and constrained in some way?

Cardi B

She cracked me up. They had her perform on the pre-show, and then tried to interview her right after and she was like, "YOU HAVE TO WAIT. I CAN'T BREATHE."

in Christian Siriano

Also, she had to change into a cone bra, which takes time and dexterity.

Julia Michaels

That is a pretty fabric tat it looks like they handed to an intern.

Farrah Abraham

I rarely cover the Teen Moms, but on Twitter for Today Style I called her Farrah Abraham, Space Equestrian, and it still stands.

Jeremy Scott and Jasmine Sanders

Jeremy Scott may want to have a These Boots Are Made For Walk-Off with her, in fact. Jasmine can later perform a long program inspired by it.

Noah Cyrus

A Fug National on Twitter called this Yoko Ono cosplay, and that's all I can see now. I just really think Noah Cyrus does not give herself the best chance she could.

Amber Rose

And Amber Rose in a brunet wig is nearly unrecognizable. She looks like a combination of Naya Rivera, a VERY surprised Vanessa Minnillo, and a Kardashian. I wish she just looked like Amber Rose.
