This is a more traditional shot, and I'm happy to be able to continue my history of weighing in on Bouquet Sizes Throughout History. I think this one is pretty good! Maybe a hair small? Just a hair. Like anyone is looking at her flowers when Paul Newman's head is floating there. This wedding was at the old El Rancho Vegas casino, which has a fairly diverting Wiki page, including both a gambling horse and a mysterious fire that caused Pearl Bailey to drive her car into a tree.

This was arriving at the Oscars that year, where he was nominated for The Hustler. (He lost to the also very handsome Maximilian Schell for The Judgement at Nuremberg.) I hope you realize how hard it is for me not to just type, "look at this absolute BABE" on every one of these slides.

That's not Joanne at the end. This is singer Marian Anderson, Roy Wilkins (the executive secretary of the NAACP), Paul Newman, Rev. Robert Sike of the National Council of Churches, and actress Faye Emerson. They've just landed at Washington's (then named) National Airport because they're attending what Informative Caption called (contemporaneously) "a massive Civil Rights demonstration" the next day. We of course know it as the March on Washington, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his "I Have a Dream" speech. A few years ago, I read a piece in Town and Country about how civil rights leaders intentionally invited celebrities to the march as a way to get positive media coverage, and to bring out as many photographers as possible. (There are great photos in that piece, as well. )
