"Shucked" cast

Shucked's plot synopsis reads like Small Town Crop Farmer vs Big City Con Man, in a way where its success must rest on its charms and its cast. Reviews seem to have been mixed -- Wikipedia sums up its detractors as saying, Weak spots in the show seemed to be its plot and its implementation of a moral." But I have ALSO heard, and in our comments to boot, that the show is a FREAKING DELIGHT and I absolutely enjoyed this corny medley and want to see it. I hope Alex Newell reprises it their part in L.A.

Ariana DeBose

This is but one shot of the extensive opening dance, and I don't think you can underestimate what a skill it is to be smiling while all that is happening. I would show the labor all over my face.

Ariana DeBose

She also put on this DELECTABLE robe afterward, to do her monologue, and it's my favorite thing she wore all night.

Lea Michele

Once upon a time, Lea brought this energy to her red-carpet posing. Now she has channeled it straight to where it belongs: Fanny Brice. The girl can wail. It does not absolve her of her awful behavior, in the slightest, but it's true.

"Sweeney Todd" cast

Is this Sweeney Todd, or a musical about the Sochi Olympics, starring Bob Costas's pink eye?

"Some Like It Hot" cast

I wish we had more shots of these costumes, but this one on Adrianna Hicks is delectable. They won for the costumes, so that fits.

Sara Bareilles, Brian D'Arcy James, Kennedy Kanagawa

I confess I don't LOVE "Into The Woods" in general, musically, and so I thought this was boring. EXCEPT for the cow. The cow can stay.

Lorna Courtney

"& Juliet" seems like a banger that will play VERY well in Los Angeles when it comes.

Anna Uzele and Colton Ryan of "New York, New York"

Anna was also the original Broadway Catherine Parr in Six, and she slayed "New York, New York" out there. Incredible. Adrianna Hicks back there in Some Like It Hot was ALSO in Six, as Catherine of Aragon, so that show is spawning some legends already.

Camelot cast

Phillipa Soo was in the Into the Woods revival as Cinderella, then jetted over to Camelot, but didn't get Tony recognition for either. I am SURE her individual Tony is coming soon.

Joaquina Kalukango

Joaquina won last year for her lead role in Paradise Square, and came back to sing "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again" for the Dead Person Montage. Which ended with the one-two punch of Tina Turner and Angela Lansbury, and WHEW. Anyway, she sounded amazing -- doubly nifty because it was SUCH a different side to her prodigious talent than "Let It Burn," which she performed last year with stunning ferocity. She's superb.

Victoria Clark and Justin Cooley

Kimberly Akimbo looks cute and very challenging to commit to -- Victoria is playing her character in high school here, opposite an actual teenager -- and if the point of the Tonys is to make me impatient for national tours, IT'S WORKING.

Micaela Diamond, Ben Platt

They were great. Ben Platt is a lot for me sometimes, but man, is he born for musical theater. I said to Jessica last night that it seems fated that Lea Michele and Ben Platt will do a musical together that puts all my “I know they’re talented, but I just can’t” in one place.

Tony the Tiger® celebrates with Corey Hawkins, Common, Uzo Aduba, Kenny Leon, Debra Martin Chase and LaChanz

Meanwhile, Tony the Tiger REGISTERED TRADEMARK lived his absolute best life. I hope he didn't photobomb these people. Wait... maybe I hope he did.

Tony the Tiger REGISTERED TRADEMARK also took a moment to get his makeup done.

And Tony the Tiger REGISTERED TRADEMARK also apparently genuflected to Matthew Broderick to the point of face-planting. Have some DIGNITY, Tony the Tiger REGISTERED TRADEMARK.

Just for fun!
