Hello, I've found my new religious leader. YES, I'd like to join this cult, please let me know where to send my tithes. This is like Darth Vader HITS THE TOWN! and I am here for that.

I blab on all the time about how hearing the inspiration behind these looks always enhances them and that everyone invited to the Met should have to stand atop its staircase and explain their look briefly. And Maisie said this was inspired by The Matrix and honestly I love that. ALSO I got bad intel and didn't double check and this IS NOT Thom Browne, it's the work of her boyfriend, Reuben Selby. It's very well done! I'M SORRY REUBEN, please enjoy hanging out here with the rest of the Thoms.

Do we think the train is detachable? I'd bet money on it if there were a Met Gala Bookie, something I just invented in the previous post.

Someone give Maisie a sci-fi script. OKAY! Now back to the actual Thom Brownes!

"Erykah Badu has a lot going on!" is a thing I said to myself last night.

The event coincides with the Met Costume Institute's first two-part exhibition, 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion' which opens 18 September 2021, to be followed by 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion' which opens 05 May 2022 and both conclude 05 September 2022. 2021 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, USA - 13 Sep 2021

And is possibly also a thing SHE said to herself last night.

This has like the faintest vibe of Oliver Twist to it.

Someone on Twitter -- please let me know if it was you! -- said Pete looked like he was working at See's Candies and (a) true (b) now I want some candy (c) I also actually think this works surprisingly well with his general aesthetic and he should go David Rose on us more often.

The Statue of Liberty headpiece! Perfect. (He does always nail this one.)

On one end, it's interesting to me from an artistic standpoint that we're in a period of time where people are wearing FULL face masks and I look forward to having a thoughtpiece about this beamed into my eye holes in 2045 or whatever. In less outre news, I think shorts on the Met Gala carpet in September are sort of clever.

This is honestly very cool and while I am not personally a fan of the new Hipbone Couture we're seeing out and about, I also think this is an interesting way to do it.

Thom Browne doesn't do a lot of pattern-patterns -- this is a good one.
