Michelle Williams

I had completely forgotten about her being pregnant?!? The news cycle has been so AGGRESSIVE lately. This is a lovely drape on her, and it makes me wish she'd shake up the cuts a little bit when she ISN'T pregnant.

Daniel Radcliffe and Weird Al

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Sam Santos/Shutterstock (13375707ac) Daniel Radcliffe, "Weird" Al Yankovic 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

This movie looks like a hoot?!? It didn't occur t me that they'd do it parody-style, for some reason, but the fact that they did is just perfect. I love these two, and I respect that DanRad makes such bold choices.

Evan Rachel Wood

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Sam Santos/Shutterstock (13375707i) Evan Rachel Wood 'Weird: The Al Yankovic Story' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

This is mostly forgettably fine, saved by the fact that she's doing a GREAT pose with it.

Gabrielle Union

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Sam Santos/Shutterstock (13375706k) Gabrielle Union 'The Inspection' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

This outfit is ALSO mostly forgettable, but I'm staring at her necklace trying to figure out what it is. If this were the Da Vinci Code, someone would be trying to crack it open for secrets to a spiritual treasure.

Jamila Gray

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Michael Hurcomb/Shutterstock (13375708r) Jamila Gray 'On The Come Up' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

Jamila is starring in "On The Come Up," the adaptation of Angie Thomas's book. This is super on her. (It's not the same dress Jodie Turner-Smith was just wearing; they're just coincidentally close.)

Da'Vine Joy Randolph

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13376373b) Da'Vine Joy Randolph 'On The Come Up' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

Okay, this is fantastic, if you just ignore that no one put enough thought into the shoes. Also, she's on Only Murders In The Building, and there's a non-spoilery moment in season 2 when she busts out a song verse, and I think the ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED look on Martin Short's face is genuine. (She is a Broadway actress; she can belt.)

Angie Thomas

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13376373i) Angie Thomas 'On The Come Up' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

YES ANGIE. I love to see an author get glammed up and turned out.

Sanaa Lathan

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13376373z) Sanaa Lathan 'On The Come Up' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 08 Sep 2022

And this is incredible. I'm sure wearing it felt like the antidote to spending all that time on Succession's third season with miserable jerks (the characters, not the cast).

Jessie Buckley in Erdem from 2019

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Sam Santos/Shutterstock (13388288ak) Jessie Buckley 'Women Talking' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 13 Sep 2022

She looks like a time traveler trying to fit into Victorian England.

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Sam Santos/Shutterstock (13388288aq) Claire Foy, Sarah Polley, Jessie Buckley, Rooney Mara 'Women Talking' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 13 Sep 2022

We didn't have a full shot of this, but everyone in here looks exactly as you'd expect (Jessie somehow included; she's your Expect The Unexpected). Sarah Polley looks divine, and her film Women Talking is getting excellent buzz, so I hope we see more of her.

Julia Stiles

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13378268c) Julia Stiles 'Butcher's Crossing' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 09 Sep 2022

This is fine, but what I think we all want to talk about is getting the greats of the late 90s/early aughts together for a REAL throwback movie. Put all those characters in the same universe and MESS SHIT UP. Kat Stratford crosses paths with Katherine Merteuil and Cecile Caldwell, and the She's All That couple is bitterly divorced and he's courting Lauren Ambrose from Can't Hardly Wait, who ditched Seth Green, who chased after Jennifer Love Hewitt for a while but it was her character from I Know What You Did Last Summer... let it get messy.

Taylor Swift and Sadie Sink

Well, applause, Taylor. But what happened to Sadie? Would this work if her shoes were not 20 lbs each, or is the whole thing as shlumpy on her as I think it is? Compare that, too, to this...

Sadie Sink in Stella McCartney

Same stylist, TOTALLY different effect. This fits beautifully and appropriately ushers her into her bombshell adulthood.

Chloe East

That ruffle is just not fair to do to anyone.

I approve! I also like the carpet. Was it sponsored by The Bay? Serious question. It has to be, right?

Andrew Scott

Hot Priest looks hot. Everything is on-brand here. (We are FINALLY watching Band of Brothers with the beans, and I was so happy to see him -- I didn't know who he was back in 2001! -- and then so very sad like half a second later.)

Lena Dunham and Luis Felber

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Todd Williamson/January Images/Shutterstock (13383790b) Lena Dunham and Luis Felber at Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

Lena's movie Catherine Called Birdy is getting nice reviews (better than when she's written her own material lately, so maybe this is a good pivot for her?) and this dress is super on her.

Bella Ramsey

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Todd Williamson/January Images/Shutterstock (13383790o) Bella Ramsey at Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere on Sunday, September 11, 2022. Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

And I'm very happy for Bella, the 18-year old star of the movie. I think a snazzy suit is a great pick for this.

Isis Hainsworth

Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

Isis is also in the movie. She herself is so cute, but someone may have made this from fabric remnants. So that would be sustainable, at least....?

Sophie Okonedo

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Todd Williamson/January Images/Shutterstock (13383790bd) Sophie Okonedo Amazon Studios "Catherine Called Birdy" 2022 Toronto International Film Festival Premiere, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

Anna Kendrick in Maticevski

Lucy Boynton

I don't know about the white and the cream here... also this all seems so long and drapey. She's getting lost in it.

with Emma Corrin

Emily is also reminding me suddenly of Mary Louise Parker. Emma, meanwhile, has let moths ruin the sweater Granny knit them.

Samara Weaving

She is a bride of yikes here, on many levels (to her horror franchise, to D&G, to Shia LaBeouf... yes I said it)(although apparently the horror movies are very good; they're yikes to me because I can't handle them).

Minnie Driver

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13385912al) Minnie Driver 'Chevalier' Premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

She looks eleven feet tall in this. I looked her up and she's 5'10", which IS tall, so that makes sense.

Jessica Chastain in Elie Saab

Mandatory Credit: Photo by PICJER/imageSPACE/Shutterstock (13385944l) Jessica Chastain 'The Good Nurse' Premiere Toronto Film Festival, Canada - 11 Sep 2022

However, she ALSO looks tall in this, and she's 5'4". The magic of photography and a red jumpsuit, I guess. And for all I know she's wearing 6-inch platforms under there.

I liked all of this so much more before I realized I could see Tanya's bra. There's so much else going on; it feels like her stylist could have strategized this one differently.

Glen Powell

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Vito Amati/Shutterstock (13386435y) Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner 'Devotion' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 12 Sep 2022 Both Wearing Louis Vuitton

Joe seems like he's about to pitch you on a new artists' retreat that he insists is not at ALL culty, and Sophie looks awesome and is the reason you're going to join and just hope you don't lose all your money.

Anna Diop in Carolina Herrera

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Todd Williamson/January Images/Shutterstock (13386462e) Anna Diop 'Nanny' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 12 Sep 2022

The shoulder pad boobs are resoundingly NOT my thing, and more importantly, I cannot imagine they would have been Mrs. Herrera's, either.

Jonathan Majors

Zac Efron

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Michael Hurcomb/Shutterstock (13388269k) Zac Efron 'The Greatest Beer Run Ever' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 13 Sep 2022

"The Greatest Beer Run Ever" sounds so bad. Also, Zac recently said his jaw looks different because he slipped in his house while running in his socks, and broke his face. I only mention it because I figured someone might ask if it's definitely him. It is.

Grace Van Dien

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Michael Hurcomb/Shutterstock (13393076al) Grace Van Dien 'Roost' premiere, Toronto International Film Festival, Canada - 15 Sep 2022

I just learned she's the daughter of Casper Van Dien (90210, Starship Troopers) and Carrie Mitchum, whom she very much resembles. You might know her from Stranger Things season 4. She looks mildly terrified here, which I find relatable. It's how I would look too.

And this! The Handmaid's Tale is not a noted comedic romp. Nor is it particularly a dystopian future anymore. It's pretty much the present in several states.

Brian Cox, Catherine Hardwicke

That lining on Brian's suit is hilarious. Everyone here is rightly pleased with their own sartorial sass level.
