Law is having a grand old time digging into various archives lately, from dressing Bella Hadid at Cannes to this pick for Zendaya. I don't yet know if it's from his personal collection or on loan, but it's fantastic on her. So pretty, so unusual, and a perfect fit -- AND not trend-chasing. It isn't a vintage gown that happened to come back around in terms of what's in vogue; it's just classically interesting. I love it.

Speaking of love: this dress. Every so often, America gets it right, and throwing its support behind Quinta and Abbott Elementary is SO right. What a lovely show.

She is on the list as an influential person, which... I assume this is in the PR budget for The Dropout? Not that I don't think Amanda is nice or anything, but at times you do see the machinery in motion with these sorts of features. Her dress feels like a dreary gown trying to trick you into thinking it's totally fun at parties.

Whereas her dress IS fun at panties WHOOPS I mean parties. (There's some gorgeous work here, you ALMOST don't notice the underpants... until you do and then there's no avoiding it.)

Ijeoma wrote So You Want To Talk About Race. I predictably would have liked this more if it were a dress and not a billowy jumpsuit situation, but I cannot fault her accessories, nor the sparkle. She glows in the right ways. (And as much as I love a heel, I hat-tip anyone who is like, "That is a bridge too far for my feet, I need arch support people." My own feet certainly did not spend two years of Covid keeping themselves stiletto-limber.)

Hayley went up on the SpaceX flight in September 2021. She's the youngest American to go into orbit. They also said she's the first "commercial astronaut" to do so with a prosthesis (she had bone cancer in her leg), but isn't the whole concept of being a "commercial astronaut" fairly new? Anyway, not to take that away from her; she's a St. Jude's physician's assiatant and cancer survivor, she was the mission's Chief Medical Officer, and she got to go to freaking space and her dress is great.

Sian Proctor

Sian is a geologist and all-around badass whose Wiki page says she's the first African-American woman to pilot a spacecraft (it was the same mission Hayley went on). I LOVE her accessories. They are amazing.

Maya Lin

Maya is the sculptor and designer famously behind the Vietnam Memorial, though her latest works "What Is Missing?" and "Ghost Forest" both deal with mass extinction on Earth and environmental trauma. I love her dress -- its depiction of nature is even more stirring when you know her artistic interests and concerns.

Dwyane Wade and Questlove

I always forget that Questlove is very tall (he's 6'3") until a day like today when he's next to a future NBA Hall-of-Famer. I believe Questlove both wrote something about another person, AND was a nominee himself. He seems like a wonderful person.

Amanda Nguyen

Amanda is a civil rights activist who, among many other things, helped draft the Sexual Assault Survivors' Rights Act. She's impressive as hell. I LOVE the choice of color for the accessories here.

So... Tyra participated in a Time 100 forum earlier, but not in this outfit; she did attend the dinner, but didn't walk the formal red carpet. This feels like they got her sneaking backstage.

Sincerely, until I saw a photo of her at a table with Amanda Seyfried, I figured it was a 50-50 chance Tyra was just trying to get on the elevator for unrelated reasons. I hope she convinced Amanda to invest in her Smize Cream. Yes, Tyra is an ice cream mogul now.
