I LOVE Bernadette Peters, but I don't think this ensemble worked the carpet as gracefully as she did. Lots of pulling, and those heavy hooves...

Annaleigh here is on "Masters of Sex," and I gather her Tony win for a featured role was soothing of a surprise. Good on you, Annaleigh. I'm thrilled you had the experience of hearing your name, and I hope the memory of it totally erases from your mind the fact that you wore that lipstick.

How It's Done, Except For The Shoes: Patricia Clarkson, Part Umpteen.

This outfit is a funhouse mirror: It's doing strange things to her proportions and I kind of want it to go away.

The dress is funky, but again, I think we need a little more facial heat here. Don't punt on the makeup all the time, ladies.

You need bracelets, Bueller. The dress isn't enough on its own.

She looks so dramatic that I actually giggled a little. This is VERY monochrome and matchy, but the frock itself is not unflattering on her. The hair, however, is trying to fix itself after attending a brief Bangles reunion.

Ooh, it's a motherf'ing walk-off. I'm giving it to Anna over Debra, I think.

That kind of neckline always makes me thinks he stuck her head through one of the dress loops.

I have stood next to her, and she is not tall. But she looks it here. That's the mark of a dress that knows what it's doing.

What a gorgeous print. I love the way she whips out a big ol' gorgeous ball gown at all these things and shows people how it could be done.

One of my favorite Posens in a long time. I just love how this drapes on her. That skirt is divine.

Her purse makes me laugh. I wonder which nine states she was celebrating.

This just looks tortured with cheaply transparent fabric.

This one is all about the necklace. She chose wisely -- that hit of color wakes the entire thing up.

This is so unusual. I love it. Somehow it manages to be soothing.

She is... reliably Judith, basically.

I love the IDEA of her going for big drama, although in the end i wish it were more Dynasty than this is.

This is beautifully fitted to her. I didn't expect to like the butterfly shoes, either, but actually the effect is pretty nifty -- truly like a big ol' bracelet for her feet, somehow. And they're flats. If you're going to trot out flats on Anna Wintour's Night of Nights Except For All The Other Ones That Are More Important To Her, this is the only way to get them to pass her muster.
