As fellow Broad Morgan pointed out in the chat this past week, it felt like track and field had been cast by the CW, so GORGEOUS was everyone. Gorgeous but ALSO SO FAST. Gabby, in particular, looks SO RELAXED while she's blowing everyone away.

Sha'Carri Richardson of Team USA

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 09: Sha'carri Richardson looks across to Daryll Neita of Team Great Britain before she accelerates to the line to win the Women's 4 x 100m Relay Final for the USA on day fourteen of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 09, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by Richard Heathcote/Getty Images)

This photo is SO great and it was every better in motion. Sha'Carri was seriously like, "hmmph. I can beat you," and just kicked into the next gear. I laughed out loud. I love her. (Team GB still took silver!)

Mondo Duplantis of Sweden

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 05: Gold medalist Armand Duplantis of Sweden sets a new world record during the Men's Pole Vault Final on day ten of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 05, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by Christian Liewig - Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)

EVERY time someone did the pole vault, I announced to the room that it was CRAZY and I stand by it.

WHOLESOME. All the male pole vaulters seemed to love each other; the Greek athlete who came in third bandaged Mondo's hand when it hurt himself.

Kenny Bednarek of Team USA

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 7: Kenneth Bednarek of the United States competes in the Men's 200m semi-final on day twelve of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 7, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by Steve Christo - Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)

Kung Fu Kenny had a great Olympics, all things considered. (The disaster of the 4x100 relay notwithstanding. I hope he didn't get an angry call from Carl Lewis.)

HAMMER THROW! Medalists

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 6: Gold medal winner Camryn Rogers (C) of Canada, silver medal winner Annette Nneka Echikunwoke (L) of United States, and Jie Zhao (R) of China celebrate after the Women's hammer throw final on day eleven of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 06, 2024 in Paris, France. (Photo by Mustafa Yalcin/Anadolu via Getty Images)

Here, we've got, per Informative Caption, "Gold medal winner Camryn Rogers (C) of Canada, silver medal winner Annette Nneka Echikunwoke (L) of United States, and Jie Zhao (R) of China," our hammer throw medalists. They're so happy and so strong and so cute! I'd watch a buddy comedy where these three go on the road and get into shenanigans, romantic and otherwise. This is America's first ever medal in hammer throw for a woman, I believe.

Aaron Brown of Canada and Andre De Grasse of Canada

This is: Berihu Aregawi of Team Ethiopia, Grant Fisher of Team United States, Joshua Cheptegei of Team Uganda and Mohammed Ahmed of Team Canada at the finish line of the Men's 10,000m, during which my husband and I both screamed GOOOOOOO at Grant Fisher, who NAILED that bronze medal position. Berihu Aregawi next to him did get silver by TWO TENTHS of a second. His face is like, "SHEESH where did this guy come from?!"

1500m Finish

PARIS, FRANCE - AUGUST 06: (L-R) Bronze medalist Yared Nuguse of Team United States , silver medalist Josh Kerr of Team Great Britain, gold medalist Cole Hocker of Team United States and Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Team Norway cross the finish line during the Men's 1500m Final on day eleven of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 at Stade de France on August 06, 2024 in Paris, France(Photo by Christian Liewig - Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)

Twas also thrilling to see Yared Nuguse and Cole Hocker of Team United States shock EVERYONE by finishing 3rd and 1st (!) in the 1500 after the whole thing had been dominated by trash-talking from Josh Kerr and Jakob Ingebrigtsen toward one another.

Ryan Crouser of Team United States

This is really one of those Pictures Say a Thousand Words photos: This is Soufiane El Bakkali of Team Morocco winning his second gold medal in the steeplechase, as American Kenneth Rooks shocked everyone to get the silver. American long distance runners NAILED IT this Olympics, it was fun!

Rai Benjamin of USA

(Photo by Jewel SAMAD / AFP) (Photo by JEWEL SAMAD/AFP via Getty Images)

As Informative Caption tells us, "Botswana's Letsile Tebogo crosses the finish line to win ahead of US's Kenneth Bednarek and Liberia's Joseph Fahnbulleh in the men's 200m final." This was a crazy race -- Tebogo is a GREAT sprinter, but I think we all thought Noah Lyles had this in the can. This was before we found out that what Noah Lyles had was Covid. Having said that: Winning a bronze medal while ACTIVELY HAVING COVID is also a physical achievement.

Katie Moon of United States

Grant Holloway took gold in the Men's 110m Hurdles and it was exciting! Fun fact: The bell that the winners got to ring, seen here, is going to be hung in Notre Dame. Isn't that cool???

This is such a great picture of Noah Lyles getting his gold in the 100m dash -- literally one of the most thrilling finishes to any race I've EVER seen.

This is a baton exchange in the 4 x 400m relay, AKA the one the men did not mess up. (The 400m relay exchange IS somewhat easier because you don't have to be BLASTING into each other at full speed but the women did not have this issue.)

THIS MAN WAS FOCUSED (and indeed took gold in this relay). I always think of Vernon Norwood as being a very old man but he's only 32. (He just seemed like he's been with us forever....and also 32 is kinda old for a sprinter.)

Quincy Hall of Team United States

This man was COMPETING WITH AN ACTIVE KIDNEY STONE. He also lost his wedding ring in the Seine. He's also handsome. He had a big week! (He did not do well HE HAS AN ACTIVE KIDNEY STONE and was vomiting blood.) (It's okay, he has a gold medal. You may remember him from last time, when he and Qatari high jumper Mutaz Essa Barshim decided to share the gold. (The men were given the option to do that this year as well; the American who was tied for first at the time said no, and he ended up taking silver.)

This man is FAST and ALSO has cool hair and a great manicure. (I find Noah's preternatural confidence entertaining and generally think he's great. I hope he's feeling better.)

Anna Hall

"Hey, mom? I just won the hurdles!!" Fun fact: Grant Holloway's dad, who was in the stadium with his mother, looks JUST like him and is so youthful looking that I truly thought he was his brother.

Fabulous. I love TT Terry's pigtails and legwarmers look, and I also loved how Melissa Jefferson always had such a serious game face on, but ALSO a very cute bow. Women contain multitudes!
