Jamie Lee looked lovely, but she gave me a brief scare...

... because on first casual glance I thought this was laced up over her bare bum. I believe that is a terrible trick of the light, but I did yelp first.

Sidebar: At the London premiere, it appears she was asked to wear a replica of That Black Dress, and she is a good sport. It also randomly appears to fit her exact specific tan line?

Awww.

I did not realize -- or recall, I guess -- that open-backed booties were a thing in 1994.

I am not unwilling to wear this right now.

I AM unwilling to wear a leather jacket in the shade Dehydrated Person's Urine.

Paul concurs.

Fitz has always been handsome.

Look at Linda in her tiny '90s sunglasses. Remember when those tried to come back? I feel like we as a society said a good, hard no.

Jon Lovitz

This does not seem like it was ever a solid idea.

Eliza Dushku

She has a good part in this movie, as Arnold's and JLC's kid. I love the absolute red-carpet rawness of a teen star. She's like, "How do I stand? Whatever."

Reese Witherspoon

Reese is just... dressed for a regular night at the movies, which I guess this probably felt more like in 1994.

This pantsuit is terrible. It feels like Eunice forced it on her from her Political Events archive.

I thought Jackie Stallone was Jackie Collins for the BRIEFEST of seconds.

Ah, yes, from the good old days before James dated his best friend's 19-year old daughter.

Danny DeVito is always going to show up for his twin brother Arnold.

Informative Caption was so focused on Christopher that it ignored the fact that this is Diane Lane with him. Her sweater is long! His pants are high! Such was 1994.

... he was merely being a billboard, and a team player. RIP, Bill.

True Lies Came Out On This Day in 1994
I watched True Lies again at some point in the pandemic, and I think it held up pretty well -- largely because Jamie Lee Curtis commits to it completely. Bill Paxton has a brief but vital cameo in which he is sleazy perfection. And Arnold... you know, does that Arnold thing, to the usual effect. Is his character kind of a jerk? Yes. Do he and JLC have chemistry? Not really. Do I love that he rides a horse into an elevator, then uses it to jump between buildings? Absolutely, although apparently the horse freaked out and Arnold almost fell to his death, which is less exciting.
