She's playing in the first round, and IN MY DREAMS deep into the tournament, although she often is a one-and-done these days and I know her knee is balky right now. I wish her body could give her one more. JUST ONE MORE. ## with John McEnroe ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590q-1693195303.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590q) Venus Williams and John McEnroe Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 Sigh, Johnny Mac. Can't wait for two weeks of him cheering for Djokovic. HASHTAG SARCASM. ## Camille Giorgi ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590f-1693195312.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590f) Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 Camille drew Jessica Pegula in round one, and Jessica is the third-ranked player right now. Challenging but not impossible. She looks cute. ## Holger Rune ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590h-1693195323.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590h) Holger Rune Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 He looks very cute, but like... in 2021, they were investigating at one point whether he was yelling gay slurs at a match, and [his defense was that he was yelling them AT HIMSELF](https://www.outsports.com/2021/6/9/22524788/holger-rune-tennis-atp-gay-slurs-apology?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). His "apology" initially involved him alleging, in a Trumpy way, that he loves diversity and inclusion more than anyone he knows. He's SUPER young and clearly has a lot to learn. I hope he will learn it. ## Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590br-1693195334.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590br) Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 She's unranked, and drew another unranked opponent, American Fiona Crawley (a name that sounds SO British to me). Smart to wear her jammies, as she needs a good night's sleep. ## Martat Kostyuk ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590bt-1693195345.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590bt) Marta Kostyuk Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 Oooh, she drew fourth-ranked Rybakina. That'll be tough. Her preppy outfit here is fun, but I don't know that those are the shoes for it. ## Alexander Zverev and Sophie Thomalla ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590aw-1693195355.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590aw) Alexander Zverev and Sophie Thomalla Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 This guy remains [deeply f'ing questionable](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander%5FZverev?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io#Domestic%5Fabuse%5Fallegations) and impossible for me to cheer for. ## Belinda Bencic ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590bm-1693195366.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590bm) Belinda Bencic Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 GREAT crisp suit, and the pumps that look like little hearts on the toes are sweet. She's the 15th seed. ## Andrey Rublev ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590aq-1693195377.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590aq) Andrey Rublev Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 He and Zverev may be trading hair product recommendations. ## Jenson Brooksby ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590av-1693195389.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590av) Jenson Brooksby Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 He's not playing -- he had some wrist surgery and then had to take a provisional suspension due to missing three doping tests in 2022?! BAD IDEA, friend. ## Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590ak-1693195410.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590ak) Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 These two are a tennis couple -- he's ranked 13th and she's unranked, but both are playing tomorrow. They have ALSO been mixed doubles partners, but I'm not sure if they're still paired up for that. ## Ons Jabeur ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2023/08/shutterstock_editorial_14067590af-1693195400.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Stephen Lovekin/Shutterstock (14067590af) Ons Jabeur Citi Taste of Tennis, New York, USA - 24 Aug 2023 I am dying to see her win a Slam.
