Cropped thusly, I rather loved this. The fabric is gorgeous; the jacket is funky-cool. But there is always a lower third or fourth, isn't there? Yes. There is. Until science clones some kind of Blanchett On A Stick who just stops here.
I also really love the red backing in the gown, but I do NOT love what I think of as the throw-pillow hem on this thing. Why is that seam there? Cant it just be a dress? Isn't there enough going on without turning the bottom into a Bed Bath & Beyond ruffle? I also wish she'd picked more interesting shoes, if we're being nitpicky, which we are. For me, this is the crux of the "Unfug or Fab" designation: Would this dress work better if it ended differently? Keep the glimpse of red, though, right? Somehow?
But even when there's a disappointing lower third, there is a back that can bring you right back in again. And a Robert Redford.
And HER FACE MY GOD HER SKIN WHAT. That's such good porcelain, the Queen could eat dinner off it.
