From giant, to... differently giant. This look gives me the giggles. I don't know why. It looks like someone shot a raincoat with an Embiggening ray. I can't figure out why she'd change into something JUST as unwieldy, and I am a little weary of this silhouette on her? That might not be fair -- she changed it up at the BAFTAs afterparty, to name one. But she's firmly in bed with Valentino and I'd be interested to see her branch out. These are all different, but somehow end up feeling the same.

She had THREE better outfits on this night -- one red carpet, two telecast -- and I would have put back on any one of them instead of this. This one never even really made it on TV -- just a passing glimpse; I almost missed it -- so it didn't have its moment in the spotlight. It's a waste of some glam!

Changing out of this into the previous dress was wise, logistically speaking -- that train wouldn't survive long at a party as PACKED as VF seems to have been. I mostly wasn't sure where else to cover this. But I still think her red carpet dress wins them all. This has pretty details on it, but the bodice does look a bit like she stuffed it with shoulder pads that she couldn't hide.

I wasn't sure where to put them, because his outfit is creative and interesting, but he was probably right not to wear it to the Oscars. HOWEVER: While hers definitely has some nice workmanship, her Oscars dress was AMAZING to me, an all-time Sabrina Elba high, and this can't compare -- it just kinda peters out -- even though it's not the worst.
Cara Delevingne in Del Core
We are, in fact, in a stretch of people who started out excellently. Cara's red gown was so good, and this just cannot compare. Mostly because it cannot contain her.

Paul had a simple tux kicking around, and I'm not sure why he'd swap out the embellished suit, which had more verve? I decided the beads were all insanely expensive, and someone gave him the choice of either changing into a plain tux, or having a person follow him around all night with a bucket to catch anything that popped off his jacket.

She looks like a Sims character I would have designed during my particularly soap-operatic Sims phase. I understand the clashing vibe she was going for -- kind of like Danai Gurira's regal-to-looser transformation -- but unfortunately, here the entire shebang is a downgrade from where she started. The Hudge could have rocked a dramatic metallic mini with impressive shoulders.

Tough one: I like Valentina's lovely dress better than her red one, by a nose, but Salma's silver can't compare to the dazzle of her other. It's banal by comparison.
