Zhang Ziyi in Armani and Chopard

A velvet pantsuit is not what I expected from her in Venice. She sort of looks like a glamorous cadet, or something. The beret might be a bit cutesy for me, although it would have been even more overly precious in Cannes, so I'm glad that didn't happen.

The fan is lovely, though, and such an elegant way to cool off if needed. I am surprised more people don't go that way during, say, the Emmys, where it's often roasting here. Her earrings are great, too, and her face card is never declined.

This is VERY reminiscent of her breezy Cannes photocall look that we just spotlighted in her slideshow. It's charming and summery and seems ideal for a working vacation where you're gallivanting around in boats.

I like this well enough; it's like an alligator, but make it pretty. She does look like she's dressed for an entirely different climate though.

And she is rarely without her sunnies. As you'll soon see.

HOWEVER, I loathe this with a white-hot fire. That neckline is garbage on her. It LOOKS like the idea was to appear as if she's wearing a dress in reverse...

... but that actually doesn't track with the back at all, so it's JUST a giant loose lumpy red blob. I cannot. She looks terrible in it. Balenciaga usually does better for her than this, and Armani DEFINITELY would have, had she not defected. (I assume we'll still see SOME Armani?)

This dress is just so absurd, how do you eat Isabelle Huppert alive like this? She's also one of their most loyal ambassadors!

However, am I crazy, or is this evocative of an Olsen? Maybe Elisabeth later in her career?
