At the star-studded event in Los Angeles Winslet was named best supporting actress for her Oscar-nominated role in The Reader. Meanwhile, Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire won the ensemble cast prize - the guild's equivalent of a best picture award. Also on the night, Meryl Streep walked away with the best actress gong for her part in Doubt and Sean Penn was named best actor for Milk - both categories they have also been Oscar nominated for. Late actor Heath Ledger received the best supporting actor award for his portrayal of the Joker in The Dark Knight. In the TV categories, House star Hugh Laurie won the best actor in a drama series award. 30 Rock won the best comedy ensemble prize and two of its stars, Alec Baldwin and Tina Fey, were also recognised. The guild's lifetime achievement award was presented to James Earl Jones - the veteran actor who was the voice of Darth Vader. We start here, with I believe her nomination for Doubt. This is a perfectly nice dress, and also, it's a great Exhibit A for what happens when a person gets very famous after their first nomination. The fabrics get lusher. ## 2012 in Marchesa ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/03/shutterstock_editorial_6257197cs-1616982704.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/AP/Shutterstock (6257197cs) Viola Davis Viola Davis arrives at the 18th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on in Los Angeles SAG Awards Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA She IMMEDIATELY went to what I think is the best dress in this slideshow. It's DIVINE on her. This is the megastar glow-up. The earrings are a superb choice with this, too. ## 2015 in Max Mara ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/03/shutterstock_editorial_4381644jj-1616982688.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Baron/BEI/Shutterstock (4381644jj) Viola Davis 21st Screen Actors Guild Awards, Arrivals, Los Angeles, America - 25 Jan 2015 WEARING MAX-MARA She is truly good at bracelets. Maybe she has a companion show to Celebrity Shoe Intervention with Uzo Aduba, and it's Bracelet Yourself with Viola Davis. ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/03/shutterstock_editorial_9056637mb-1616982711.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP/Shutterstock (9056637mb) Viola Davis arrives at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium, in Los Angeles 21st Annual SAG Awards - Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA I MEAN. It's very bridesmaid. ## 2017 ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2021/03/shutterstock_editorial_9242872f-1616982719.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Invision/AP/Shutterstock (9242872f) Viola Davis arrives at the 23rd annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall, in Los Angeles APTOPIX The 23rd Annual SAG Awards - Red Carpet, Los Angeles, USA - 29 Jan 2017 And THIS is very bride-like. It's GREAT on her cleavage, though, and that NECKLACE. I do not think she will go this basic either at the SAGs or the Oscars, though. She seems to be having too much fun with color, and I'm stoked about it.
