Sienna Miller as Patsy from AbFab

ISN'T THIS BRILLIANT. I honestly think she could pass as Joanna Lumley ON the set of AbFab. Her profile talks about how she's done a lot of darker material lately, and in it she also refers to herself as "pathologically authentic," which... I always get a giggle when people trumpet how authentic they are, because to me it feels like cultivating an image of authenticity that therefore might NOT be that authentic, but whatever. I'm not sure "authentic" is really a trait, but still, I enjoyed spending those few paragraphs with her.

Mackenzie Davis as Stath from Stath Lets Flats

Mackenzie is doing a character from a show I'm not familiar with -- but if you've watched What We Do In The Shadows series, it also Natasia Demetriou. Her brother Jamie plays the titular Stath. Mackenzie's interview is really good, and from what I can tell, this take on Stath is perfect.

Nicole Byer as Michelle Tanner from Full House

Yes, Nicole is in the Mary-Kate Ashley Olsen role (that's how it was credited -- "Mary-Kate" atop "Ashley Olsen" -- so for a long time I thought it was one person with several names). She said she picked this one because "Dinosaurs" would be too much work, and I was JUST thinking about that acid-trip of a show the other day. That and the GEICO Caveman show. WHAT were people doing.

Margaret Qualley as Dorothy Zbornak from The Golden Girls

No. No. A thousand times no. That is not a Dorothy shirt, that is not Dorothy jewelry, and that is not a Dorothy wig. That is, like, an Andy Warhol wig. I appreciate the affection for this legend -- though she says Dorothy "doesn't get the love she deserves," and I think she ABSOLUTELY DOES because who isn't enamored of BEA FREAKING ARTHUR and her facial expressions? -- but this is not professional costuming; this is last-chance Halloween.

Elle Fanning

The photo credit on this was "by Elle Fanning," and I don't know if that's a typo or if she actually did shoot this herself. It definitely looks like she, too, leaned into the Halloween of it all in trying to turn into Paris Hilton. I... don't love this for her? I cannot imagine wanting to represent aughts Paris Hilton, no matter how much you liked The Simple Life, and no matter how "cool" you think she is now, because back then she was awfully liberal with the N-word among other slurs.

Jessica Biel as Don Draper

I don't think this works that well either. Once you know it's Don... okay, but every time I come back to it, I still think it's Succession at first. She almost looks more like Nicholas Braun/Cousin Greg, actually. I know facial accuracy isn't the point, but I'm not sure this did enough to convey the Mad Men era so that you feel grounded in Don-ness. (Here's her profile. It's interesting to read her take on Candy, a show I did not watch, but which she developed and starred in.)

Chrishell Stause as Dexter from, yes, Dexter

Team Chrishell, but I think they could've leaned harder into replicating a Dexter poster, maybe, and less toward "look adorable holding a knife." Here's her interview.

Zazie Beetz as Fleabag from Fleabag

It's interesting to me that in her piece, Zazie talks about the Fleabag striped shirt, but they didn't put her in a striped shirt. I haven't seen the show, but I gather Fleabag is a cafe owner, so I guess this is depicting that part? To me Zazie mostly looks like a hot baker who's praying her loaves will rise, but if I knew the show better it might be clearer. (Here is her interview.)

Minha Kim as Lexie from Grey's Anatomy

I have heard Pachinko is just gorgeous all around -- we are almost done with the stuff we're catching up on, and that's next for me. Minha explains why she chose Lexie in particular for this, but the photo feels like it could have been any of them. Then again, the most memorable thing Lexie did in Grey's -- and this isn't intended as an insult -- was a) sex with McSteamy, b) having the hots for George, and c) leave the show the way she did, none of which would have made the best shoot.

Adam Scott as Sam Malone from Cheers

This is another one where it feels like they needed a quick and basic setup. I did not get Sam Malone from this until I read the words "Sam Malone," but I guess short of putting him ON the Cheers set, how COULD you make it obvious? He did at least tease up his hair. (This is making me want to do what he said he did, and rewatch all of Cheers.)

Melanie Lynskey as Susan from Landscapers

I haven't seen Landscapers, but I can't blame Melanie for thinking Olivia Colman was iconic in something. (Although, even though I didn't enjoy The Crown much, I wish she'd picked that one just so we could see someone in cosplay of QE2 cosplay. The LAYERS.) The show is about a woman who killed and buried her parents in the yard in 1998, and this DOES feel like something you would wear in 1998, murder or not.

Natasha Lyonne as Afton from Dallas

Of all the Dallas characters, Audrey Landers's Afton is such a delightfully random choice. Natasha explained that it was born out of an attempt to do Ida Lupino, but the finished photos... she nailed the angle so that she does rather look like Afton. Also, I really like the last line of her profile (linked above).

Devery Jacobs as Catra from She-Ra and the Princesses of Power

A+ choice in terms of randomness; I haven't seen this She-Ra, but now I want to.Her interview is wonderful. (She's on Reservation Dogs, which is ALSO on my list and is supposed to be great.)

Nicholas Braun as Tim Riggins from Friday Night Lights

This is delightful. I didn't read most of the piece because I'm still in season 3 of Succession and I don't want to get spoiled accidentally, although it seems like they maybe were being pretty careful? Still. But I laughed when he said he wished he had been the Tim Riggins of his dorm. I think everyone has wished that at one time or another.

Quincy Isaiah as Ted Lasso's Ted Lasso

Quincy plays Magic Johnson in "Winning Time," a show I just found out from this piece is a SERIES and not a mini-series, as they're doing a season two. Ted Lasso is a fun choice for him along the sporting theme, and I appreciate that he leaned hard into the mustache. I might have airbrushed out the stubble?

Sadie Sink as Elaine from Seinfeld

This really REALLY works for me, because while they didn't doll her up in a dark wig and go for straight-up costume, the styling is classic Elaine and you feel the homage so strongly. She was SO fab in season four of Stranger Things; I felt that lack of Emmy nod. I think the last few episodes will count toward next year so maybe she'll get it then.

Anson Boon as Crockett from Miami Vice

He played Johnny Rotten in "Pistol." I didn't watch Miami Vice, but this does feel -- from my memory of the time -- like a proper nod to Don Johnson. (His interview is here.)

Coco Jones as Olivia Pope in Scandal

I understand why they picked this, but to me, Olivia Pope's iconic moments involved wearing a wine cardigan and drinking a massive glass of red while eating popcorn. (She plays Hilary on the Fresh Prince reboot, Bel-Air, and she talks about that here.)

Madelyn Cline as Peggy from Mad Men

Well, name a better moment from Mad Men. Whew. Madelyn is on Outer Banks, and now Knives Out 2, which is most of what they talk about in the piece.

Jung Ho-yeon as Arya Stark

I don't know if this SCREAMS Arya Stark to me? (Her piece is here.)

Tom Blyth as Jack from Lost

It's been a minute since I watched Lost, so I had to look up this one, and Jack did indeed appear to be wearing a brown suit on that fateful day. I wish he had picked the Smoke Monster, just for difficulty level. (He's in Billy the Kid, and about to be in the Hunger Games prequel; his piece is here.)

You've Seen Cousin Greg as Tim Riggins; How About Jessica Biel as Don Draper?
Or Margaret Qualley as... Dorothy Zbornak?
