Solange

We saw a lot of peekaboo/keyhole type things, and we saw a lot of multi-length skirts, and of all those this is my favorite execution: great color, great styling, GREAT Solange-ing.

Emma Roberts

This was noteworthy to me for being pretty, sure, but also for the fact that I almost never like what Emma Roberts is wearing and so this felt like a big deal.

Jennifer Lopez

J.Lo wore this for her Celia Cruz tribute at the Grammys, and not only did she own the HELL out of it, but she was actually totally fantastic in that entire performance. It was a spot-on tribute and also just generally a feat of talent. We tease her for her various image absurdities, but rarely get to say that for all the drama and crazy faces and whatnot, the woman can get it DONE on-stage.

Nicole Kidman

This is a Valentino, initially mistaken for the one Hathaway decided she couldn't wear to the Oscars. It's GORGEOUS. Hathaway SHOULD have worn this to the Oscars, even if it was never actually on the table.

Beyonce

It's rare that we say nice things about a jumpsuit. This one is all about the wearer. She is making it as awesome, or at least, as close to awesome as it could get. She is basically giving it the best night of its life.

Margot Robbie

A late entry, but a potent one -- she just wore this, and it's fabulous.

Sharon Stone

Welcome back, Sharon. Incidentally, Miranda Lambert wore this same dress (or its doppelganger) late in the year and it looked great on her, too.

Sandra Bullock

Possibly the ensemble I most wish I could wear myself. It's not just an outfit; it's an aura.

Carey Mulligan

This was strikingly lovely on a rainy night in Cannes.

Michelle Williams

This turned out to be a bit sheer on the bottom, but the magpie in me doesn't really care.

Zhang Ziyi

Splendid.

Naomie Harris

Gorgeous dress on a gorgeous lady.

Katy Perry

I love this Oscar de la Renta on its own, but I REALLY liked it on Katy, too -- it's elegant with a kick, which is how I enjoy her on the red carpet, and the book purse was fun.

Lizzy Caplan

I ALSO yearn for this look. The more casual ones tend to be the ones I envy the most, because I don't have a life where I wear gowns, but I do have a life where I VERY OCCASIONALLY need to put on something that isn't shlubby.

Kate Bosworth

The best she's looked in a long time.

Nina Dobrev

I love the hell out of this dress.

Taylor Swift

This had to be her most memorable, dreamy red-carpet moment of the year. Well, except for singing "Livin' On A Prayer" with Bon Jovi and Prince William.

Coco Rocha

She wore this racing in Australia, and it was PERFECT for that, and she looked wonderful.

Princess Charlene

She's almost Princess Charlize in this. It's so elegantly evil.

Natalie Portman

A flirty and pretty Dior frock the likes of which Jennifer Lawrence will never wear because either she hates flirty and pretty, or Dior hates her.

Jessica Alba

I wish I had the panache (and flat abs) to pull off this look.

Brooke Burke

An unsung success story of the Oscars. I've seen this on two or three other people this year, and none of them wore it better. I can't even remember who they were. I just saw them and thought, "Oh, it's Brooke Burke's Emmy dress."

Michelle Dockery

This is for you, Fug Nation. I did not like this -- the way it's crushing her boobs and then outlining them AS it crushes them is making me insane -- but almost all of you disagreed with me. So VOILA.

Mindy Kaling

Loved her in this plum gown.

Linda Cardellini

This gown was so alluring.

Carrie Preston

One of my favorites from Emmy night; it had little black buttons in the back. Divine.

Hailee Steinfeld

This may be a divisive choice, but it's just so bright and youthful and perfect for both the wearer and the night. Not sure anyone else could have pulled off this outfit without looking absurd, and so she gets high marks.

Emmy Rossum

That is wonderful. CZJ would look good in that, no?

Claire Julien

Easily my favorite thing worn by anyone on any of the "Bling Ring" junkets wore.

Audrey Tautou

I love a big bold dress.

SWINTON

This is so hilariously off-the-wall that I will never forget it. It's so SWINTON. I wish That's So SWINTON were a TV show.

Marion Cotillard

She picks unusual Diors with a much better success rate than poor ol' Jennifer Lawrence.

Nicole Kidman

She killed Cannes dead.

Ginnifer Goodwin

I almost never like her makeup, but this dress itself is really cute and unusual-looking, so thumbs up.

Kelly Ripa

I REALLY loved this dress, but we decided in the end that New York magazine readers don't care about Kelly Ripa. Which is saying something considering that she lives and works there. Maybe that wasn't fair of us, but... hey, we had to whittle SOMEHOW.

Elizabeth Banks

Fit to within an inch of its life. Really striking.

Jane Fonda

Just casually kicking red-carpet ass. No big.

Jessica Chastain

So gorgeous it almost hurts.

Stacy Keibler

Will Stacy Keibler EVER pull a dress this amazing ever again? RIP, Cloonbler. Keibley? Clooncy?

Kerry Washington

Things went rather haywire once she got secret-married and had a budding pregnancy belly to hide. This, though, was perfection. Much like gum.

Kerry Washington

This strange color palette totally worked for me on her. It's the antithesis of everything Olivia Pope is.

Allison Williams

This is great, and in a weird way, feels wasted on the crazy-ass Grammys no matter WHAT decency standards they tried to impose.

Anne Hathaway

I think this was the only awards-circuit outfit she wore that I liked. (It was the BAFTAs.)

Cate Blanchett

It doesn't make up for some of the INSANE THINGS she put on her body this year, but... thank God she put this on her body this year, because it is fantastic.

Nina Dobrev

She is very good at this.

Kate Flannery

A total cartoon "A-HOOOOO-ga" moment from someone who once wore a pelvic cast on "The Office" and thus DESERVED one of these moments.

Quvenzhane Wallis

A tribute to the cutest, most cheerful thing to hit the red carpet in 2013.

Well Played 2013: More Of Our Favorites
We picked ten or so favorites for our year-end slideshow on The Cut, but there were SO MANY MORE. And we've never exactly advertised that we're DECISIVE people; it was so hard to whittle it down that we decided to honor the overflow on our own site, where we can be as indecisive as we want. But let's call it "A More Comprehensive Look At The Year That Was," rather than, "I Can't Make Hard Choices." I also excluded anything y'all voted to the top in Best/Worst polls, because we already revisited those. [Photos: Getty]
