Oh my GOODNESS, she got the family cheeks. She looks so much like George. For comparison: The first official family pics, and George's first appearance. I can't believe how peaceful she is, too. She must've had a very nice meal before they swaddled her.

They are glowing, both of them. The dress is Jenny Packham, custom, in a buttercup pattern. It's very cheery. I wonder if she had a second option in another color in case it was a boy -- not that she couldn't have worn this then, too, but everything is so carefully managed that I bet she had at least one other option. I hope she and Packham played a joke on William and had the stylist bring over something sheer and plunging. "But it's for easy nursing," she would say, shaking her chest out of it. "Isn't it perfect? It'll be FINE -- they're just nipples!" And then once they took enough embarrassing pictures they would bring William some smelling salts.

NOODLECAKE. I suspect there's a lot of pandemonium inside the hospital around when Kate actually would leave, just because they probably wanted the baby to be good and asleep and then had to act fast before she woke up again. Not that anyone would begrudge a newborn its cries, but you know. SOMEONE would come up with a snarky headline about that.
(The blanket is GH Hurt and Son Ltd -- same brand as George, and VERY similar, if not actually the same one; I am not sharp of eye enough to tell that.)

And the full-length shot, although this is one day when I am not going to bang on her footwear ("Gilbert" by by Jimmy Choo, which I just now decided is named after Mr. Blythe). She just gave birth. Her feet probably are swollen. She has to hobble out of the hospital looking graceful and calm and like they just MAGICKED the baby out of her stomach. She can wear whatever she wants. Although as amazing as it is to me that she did it all this quickly, she does seem to be in high spirits, hale and happy.

And Kate's hair is typically shiny and has been curled at the end. You know, hospitals and enterprising hairstylists could make a MINT offering blowout services to tired new mothers who just want to feel like themselves when they leave. That really, really ought to be a thing people offer. Imagine how much a lady might pay.

That Bobby is like, "I have been standing here for SO MANY HOURS WAITING FOR THIS and I CAN'T EVEN TURN MY HEAD. STAY COOL, SELF. STAY COOL."

I assume they're looking up at news copters, or something, although there was a point where I wondered if they were worried it was raining or going to rain. Maybe Harry is mooning them from a window across the street.

"Harry wants us to name her what? No. We are ABSOLUTELY NOT naming her Oh Edith Trousers von Eurovision. And NO SCRUNCHIES."
The holding of hands is very sweet. I wish they did that more often. I mean, he might officially be doing it to help her down the stairs, but still. It's really nice.

"Peace out. Sorry so brief, but I've just had word that George has climbed up on the mantel again so I'd best get home."

When Jess and I did our Buck House tour, we stayed late enough chatting up the tour guide that she escorted us out the front -- meaning we took the very same walk that the people did this morning when they posted the birth announcement. It was EXTREMELY EXCITING and special and it's fun to see all the hubbub around it again today.
