For context: This school visit had to do with a charity that helps kids whose parents have struggled with substance abuse. She's worked with them for a while, including this time they made a pregnant lady plant a tree in maybe my favorite of her patterned dresses. I am watching it on eBay right now, in fact. I am watching it continue to be too expensive.

I learned from our friends over at What Kate Wore that we're all pretty sure this is what Kate was wearing under her coat that time she and William popped out to Scotland and got crazy drunk on whisky. Which is a shame because my money was on "cut-offs and bra top" in the pool. (You can see the hem poking out of the coat in that first picture. I guess I DID long to know that truths that coat concealed.)

Behold, the back of the dress and the back of the head. And the faces of all those cute kids. I like this dress fine. I am not going to run out and watch it on eBay or anything, but the color is good and it's a totally Appropriate Day Dress. I have a personal weakness for The Totally Appropriate Day Dress, despite the fact that I barely leave the house. I think in another life I had a job where I had to show up places in Totally Appropriate Day Dresses. (Shoe comment withheld because you already know what I would say.)

I couldn't resist this, mostly because (a) flags always make a good-looking backdrop to a photo and (b) whomever Kate is talking to looks like she's tattling on another kid down at the end of the row and it makes me laugh. "And THEN he stuck my hair in the inkwell, Kate. I'M AT THE END OF MY ROPE." And he's all bowing his head in shame like, "it's true. I just didn't know how to tell her that I find her sassy insouciance during snack time unbearably charming."

Speaking of charming, this is Rosie Nee, a student, and she gave this painting to the duchess. I assume it is her handiwork, and honestly, I love it. It's so colorful and almost Cubist and I would totally hang it up over my bar cart (I have a Virgin Mary over my bar cart. Is that weird?) Anyway, you know I always like to eyeball the artwork people give to the Royals and so far, this is my favorite, although it is not made of candy.
