William and George at the Zoo

Generally, I do these slideshows chronologically -- and we will revert to that in a second -- but come on. I don't want to bury the lede, and the lede is that this baby is really really cute and also I think William has been working out.

Wills and Kate at Easter Services

There was MUCH discussion on the Twitter of what color this McQueen coat is -- grey? light blue? blue-grey? off-white? -- but People On The Scene confirmed that it's a light dove grey. We are coming up on ten years writing this blog and I am officially running out of ways to say: I want to take your coat and wear it always.

Kate and Her Hat at Easter Services

I do love this hat. Americans, can we just agree that we're going to become a Hat Wearing People again? I'm totally going to wear one to Easter tomorrow (...or, technically, later today, since it's 2am here). I'm just going to my grandma's house to eat chicken, and it might be a baseball cap, but it's a START.

The Back of Kate's Head

This is the official Half-Up Hair-Do of The New Zealand/Australian Royal Tour.

William, Kate, George, a bilby

And now to the main attraction. This bilby enclosure AND the bilby itself are both named after George, who seemed like he wanted to eat it. And by "it," I mean whatever he could get. They have video of the unveiling and his primary emotion seems to be, "DOWN PLEASE. ALSO I'D LIKE TO PUT THAT IN MY MOUTH NOW. YES THAT WHATEVER YOU'VE GOT. THANK YOU." I also enjoy that this shirt on William basically matches the one Kate wore to the winery. PLEASE WEAR YOUR MATCHING SHIRTS THIS WEEK YOU GUYS. Come on.

Kate and Wills and George at the Zoo

"HELLO. THANK YOU FOR THIS TOY I'M GOING TO TAKE IT AND EAT IT LATER." He actually threw it to the ground in the way that nine month old babies imperiously toss things to the ground (someone has obviously already made a gif of this, also). I also think this is one of William's more successful casual looks but I might just be distracted by the combo of Man Forearm + Baby, which is a very powerful combination for me.

George

I don't know what biological imperative it is that makes people think, "I'd like to eat that baby's face," but I have it. He is deliciously squashable. Will one of you please have a baby and let me come over and squeeze it? Thanks ever so much.

William, Kate, and George

George appeared to vacillate between not caring AT ALL about what happened and being VERY INTERESTED IN GETTING THAT THING PLEASE. (As an American, I don't even really know what a bilby is. I read an article today that was basically like, "a bilby is a mixture of a rabbit and a possum and a rat and a coffee pot" -- some intriguing combination or other that I am fairly sure the writer just invented. But now I can see that they are real.)

William and George

Awwww. This is totally, irrevocably, and completely today's Piano Picture (the snap from the day that's going to get framed and placed on top of the piano with the rest of their family pictures). Both their piano and possibly the piano of several strangers.

Kate and George

"GIVE THIS TO ME PLEASE. TO ME. GIVE IT. PLEASE."

Kate, Wills, and a koala

Then William and Kate met a koala and I was already jealous enough of this trip without this. That koala does not even look like a real animal: it is so cute that it looks fake. I love how delighted everyone looks. Well, other than the koala. The koala does not give a shit.

Kate Feeds a Tree Kangaroo

This is just the best day ever, apparently, because then they got to feed a tree kangaroo, which is apparently a kangaroo which lives in a tree.

Wills, and Kate, and a giraffe

I enjoy that the subtext of all these photos is basically, "this is the most fun ever and I love this zoo." I continue to think what I thought during the Sydney Olympics: Sydney looks fun and I don't know why I'm not there right now.

Wills and Kate

I believe these are what Kate was feeding the tree kangaroo, so I can only imagine he's offering her one as a snack.

Wills, Kate and George

And then they're off to Canberra. At the end of this trip, I kind of want them to get off the plane at Heathrow and look like everyone else: kinda greasy, flat hair, shiny exhausted faces. Kate in jeans and a cardigan that's on inside out, Wills with a blow-up neck pillow still attached. Somehow I doubt that will happen. But bet on the fact that George seriously will not rest until he is allowed to GET DOWN PLEASE. NOW THANK YOU.

Kate, Wills and George Arrive in Canberra

Even George appears to be smiling, here, though. Maybe he just loves how SUPER coordinated they are today. "LET'S MATCH TODAY PLEASE THANK YOU NOW SET ME DOWN SO I CAN CHEW THINGS."

Well Played: Kate, Wills, and George’s Royal Tour of Australia and New Zealand, Day Fourteen
Easter + Zoo + Plane = so very much George. This was a big day and while Kate wore a lovely dove grey Alexander McQueen coat and darker grey Jane Taylor hat to Easter services -- my kingdom for a McQueen! My God, those coats are divine -- the cutest part of the day, obviously, was George Goes To the Zoo. I don't even know what to tell you. It's basically the cutest thing ever. I could have made this slideshow sixty slides long. If you have a weakness for William holding and also kissing the baby, then I suggest you sit down right now and hold on. Also, you may be interested in the proceedings if you like when people offers flowers to their wives, or also if you like koalas. And, seriously, who doesn't like koalas? Also giraffes. And kangaroos. Did I mention George? He wants to eat everything and always to get down. DOWN. The rest of the day, we've got William sporting a blue suit sandwich (one for Easter services, a casual look at the zoo, and then another blue suit when they arrived in Canberra); George in a variety of baby outfits (also much blue, to match Daddy); and Kate in two additional outfits we've seen before, this yellow eyelet that she wore on their S.E Asia tour (the photo to which I linked there features amazing floral head-wreaths which shall put this weekend's Coachella goers TO SHAME) which was designed by god knows who (maybe HER? Everyone only knows that it was made by a dressmaker, rather than a designer whose website we can crash, and I have no idea why), and then she replayed this blue Stella McCartney dress to deplane in Canberra. PS: It's the middle of the night, so I feel confessional -- don't worry, I have not bought myself a Cartier watch or anything -- and I must say that I am rather going to miss the Middle of the Night Royals Updates when this is over.
