"Bye, guys! We had fun! Pop by the palace anytime! We've got snacks."
I am unaccountably pleased that George is wearing white socks with his navy shoes, and pleased as ever by how EXTREMELY coordinated they all are.
"WAIT. MUM. PLEASE. I FORGOT SOMETHING. IT'S OVER THERE. PLEASE LET ME DOWN. TO GET IT. OVER THERE."
"All right, Babykins One and Two. Let's get this show on the road. I have nine pirated episodes of Reign waiting for me and I can't wait to complain to you about how historically inaccurate it is."
It turns out that I am unable to resist a cardigan on a baby.
"BUT I DON'T WANT TO GO HOME."
On to earlier events of the day. (Like I wasn't going to kick off with Prince SquashyFace McCheeksyPants.) This was a surprise 6am appearance, and I mostly included it because, well, COATS. William's is particularly dramatic.
Per our Photo Service: "The royal couple toured the Commemorative Area, including the Hall of Memory, and then walked along the cloisters at the heart of the Memorial which contain the Roll of Honour: a long series of bronze panels recording the names of over 102,000 members of the Australian armed forces who have died during or as a result of war service, warlike service, non-warlike service and certain peacetime operations, in Canberra, during the Royal Tour of Australia." The poppies here are, of course, for remembrance, and they're very beautiful.
Not that this is the important thing on such a serious occasion, but these poppies are also extremely photogenic flowers.
This looks like the cover of a commemorative coffee table book.
They were -- appropriately -- very somber throughout a lot of the events of the morning. But you know me. I cannot resist a good gaze.
Nor a good hat. Oh, hats. I might miss you most of all.
