So, this is the shot I like to call The People Magazine Shot, aka, the picture that I am extremely confident will appear in our Celebrity Magazine of Record. I also think this will definitively settle any potential questions as to whether they're getting along/enjoying this trip, if any remained after yesterday's parade of chortling and arm-touching. The body language here basically says, "WE ARE TOTALLY MAKING OUT LATER." (I am today's official body language expert here at GFY.)
Sorry for going out of chronological order, but I couldn't resist that first one. One of these days, I'm just going to make a big slideshow of people we like gazing at each other, and don't lie: YOU WOULD READ THAT. Also, this is a useful way to look at her hat, which is -- per Fug National @AnnieElizabethN (who runs a blog about the Countess of Wessex) -- the custom work of Jane Taylor, and it is fabulous. It has ferns on it! (You should toodle over to Taylor's website, as her hats are amazing. Why don't we Americans wear more hats? Can we try to bring that back?)
"Where have I seen that dress before?" I hear you say. Well, it's Emilia Wickstead and she's worn it before, except in pink. See, here at a garden party, and here at some cocktail event where William is drinking some wacky cocktail and neither one of them is listening to Harry. I prefer it in the teal, I think.
This is the traditional Maori welcome, which is called a "hongi," and per our photo source, this adorable little muffin is named Mataawhio Matahaere Vieint and I hope this is her Facebook profile pic now. Five year olds have Facebook, right?
Her clutch (and shoes, though I realize you can't see them; they're her usual) looks sort of green in this shot, but I believe they are actually gray. This might be my favorite suit/tie combo of William's so far (I know; the difference is very SUBTLE, but bear with me).
And now back to rugby, where they coached children in a tag rugby game, which is as cute as you can imagine. Small children playing team sports are delightful. I can only imagine this is William explaining to Kate his winning strategy. (Her sweater is Jonathan Saunders. It is, of course, sold out.)
You can just tell from looking at these kids that they're going to be as squirrelly and unfocused as all small children playing team sports OUGHT to be. That little boy in the center is just wondering if someone remembered to bring the post-match orange slices.
I cannot resist small children hoisting trophies aloft. Do you think Harry is sitting on his sofa at Kensington Palace right now, wearing track pants and eating a Hot Pocket and bitterly observing how much fun EVERYONE IS HAVING WITHOUT HIM while Cressida is streaming Coachella and weaving a hair wreath of flowers whilst singing along tunelessly? I do.
Other than the shirt, she's wearing the same outfit as she did yesterday. Additionally, oh my lord this Queenstown winery is so pretty. Can we have a Fug Nation Conference there? All will wear bracelets and NONE shall wear leggings as pants. Kate's invited as our keynote speaker.
I totally volunteer to drive the Fug Nation Memorial Tractor. Hopefully not out of control into the vineyard.
It's possible that life preservers are the secret sponsor of the last couple of days of this trip.
Yes, clearly they're having a terrible, terrible time and are filled with a boiling hate for each other except for the complete opposite of that. You know that somewhere, the makers of this life jacket are like, "YES THANK YOU THERE'S THE COVER OF OUR 2014 PROSPECTUS."
I need Kate to buy Wills some better sunglasses. I mean, letting your sweetie run around in imperfect sunglasses can be a sign of acceptance -- like how on Friday Night Lights, you knew Tami was meant to be with Coach Taylor because she clearly loved him despite the fact that he was always wearing hideous sunglasses he bought at the AM/PM (I mean, hideous sunglasses were also basically Coach Taylor's only flaw) -- but buying your sweetie HOTTER sunglasses can ALSO be a sign of affection. These are not TERRIBLE. But I feel they could be better. They seem a little small. (You know how I feel about the importance of sunglasses.) SUNGLASSES!
Having said that: See you here again tomorrow, same Bat time, same Bat channel.
