Evidently, the UK is doing a thing where you can buy Coca Cola labels with people's names on them, so this sign should be viewed in that context. However, it's still awesome, and could only be improved if it were the Diet Coke colors.
This guy is REALLY going to regret having done this.
I am totally buying one of these hats next week.
This is a fish-eye view of the assembled media outside the hospital. Poor Kate. All the commentary took on a tone of her DEEPLY inconveniencing them by not going into labor on their schedules, which is absurd, and also, I PROMISE you, NOBODY wanted to have that sucker more than she did.
Ed is the couple's press secretary, and you can tell that as he delivered the leather-encased document to the waiting motorcade that would escort them to Buck House, he was trying SO HARD not to be all Goofy Grin about it.
"Stay cool, Ed, don't break into your dance moves, the Duke said your hip thrust isn't ready for primetime..."
Jaguars carried the official documents to the forecourt of Buckingham Palace. Jaguar: The Official Car Of Documents That Twitter Has Made Obsolete But Who Cares Because Ceremonial Things Are Awesome. Too bad Don Draper didn't know this was going to happen, or else he might've looked more fondly upon that client.
The Queen's senior page accepted the document and carried it inside the palace, so it might have a quick break before going back out into the forecourt. And he was AWESOME. A camera followed him as he walked it inside, and he actually passed it, stopped, leaned back on his foot, flashed the leather case, and gave a suave smile. Awesome.
You may not have caught it, since they only mentioned it thirty thousand times, but this the very easel on which William's birth was announced (but no mention of Harry's, so I guess if you're not the heir, they spare the paper).
And here is the actual document, which I had hoped would say, "To find out what this would have said, please visit the monarchy's official Web site at www. royals.gov.uk."
The town crier then did his piece, and basically, I need him to make all my announcements henceforth even if they are not important: "The lady of the house is officially down to her last two Diet Cokes!" Actually, that one is totally important.
These are the two men who guided the heir to the throne out of the royal birth canal. I found a story that says Dr. Setchell, on the left, avoided alcohol for the month prior to her due date in preparation. I imagine him getting up every morning and donning a sweatband around his head, and being put through vigorous gynecological paces by a trainer. He also, apparently, performed Camilla's hysterectomy (in case you were wondering where her uterus is at present) and delivered Edward's children. The younger guy is apparently the Queen's gyno and therefore has a lot of experience with extremely awkward situations involving stirrups.
These are the crowds gathered at Buckingham Palace to see the paper arrive, which sounds fun and historic, and also somewhat fruitless given what a small piece of paper it is.
Still there at night! Fab. You have to love a show of pride like that -- a real national embrace.
I'd say everyone is pretty stoked today.
Oh, England. Y'all are divinely weird and also the best.
