Per Getty Images: "Prince Harry sits alongside Chief of General Staff of the Estonian Defence Forces Major General Riho Terras during a briefing at a military exercise in Sangaste on the second day of his tour to Estonia." And I would like congratulate Harry (I guess?) for never failing to sport a bracelet. Man jewelry is often unsuccessful, even in his case, but I like to think of them as an emotional shout-out to us all and thus I love them anyway. You are totally invited to Fug Camp, Harry, but be forewarned we have a LOT of thoughts about whom you ought to take as your bride.
This trip has had a lot of jaunting about in one's dashing uniform. Apparently, this was a NATO training exercise and he also ran into his roommate from one of his tours in Afghanistan, as one does. Said roomie apparently used to let Harry use his computer to email his girlfriend (Chelsy, at that period, I imagine). Rather rude of Gran not to let Harry take a laptop with him. Perhaps she thought a technology cleanse would cure him of his rampant online-shopping addition. (Every day, another identical yellow waistcoat arrives at KP and she is over it.)
"My life involves more berets than one might have thought."
"I am pointing right AT YOU. Yes, you. YOU."
"No, I actually DIDN'T see you standing there! Three cheers for your expert camouflage!"
Nice of his trip planners to schedule a Quick Blue Suit Break to recalibrate between uniforms.
Per The Express, "Harry, an Army captain, was at the cemetery to attend a British service commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Allied victory at Monte Cassino, scene of some of the bloodiest fighting in the Second World War. He met around 200 veterans from Britain and other Commonwealth countries who returned to Italy, many for the last time, to remember the comrades they lost and the deprivations they suffered in five months of fighting. A small contingent of serving German troops joined them too, in a symbol of reconciliation not evident at every commemoration across Europe. The bodies of more than 2,000 British servicemen lie in the cemetery, which stands in the town of Cassino beneath the 1,700ft rocky outcrop where in the ruins of a bombed out 6th century abbey, stubborn German defenders held out for five months, delaying an Allied push on Rome." LEARNING!
In case you are curious -- I always am -- this is the white Household Cavalry warm weather ceremonial uniform, which we also saw in Estonia earlier in the week. I am not sure who the woman with him is, but her poppy coat is very on theme.
This is apparently the Polish commemoration service ceremony at the Polish Cemetery in Monte Cassino, Italy, and as with all of these trips the royals take, I cannot help but think, "wow, that's pretty. I want to go THERE."
Because WOW, that's pretty. I want to go there.
Speaking of places one might want to go. On, you know, several levels.
"Yes, yes, history. Tell me more." That shirt, by the way, is VERY similar to the one William wore to the zoo in Australia with Prince Squishyface, which is itself very similar to Kate's blue checked shirt, and is it so very wrong that all I want is for all three of them to put on their matching shirts and take a picture?
"No, keep talking. I just wanted to give those American college girls a better look at my butt."
Meanwhile, back in the UK, William popped over to the FA Cup Final to watch Arsenal beat Hull City. (Congrats Arsenal fans/sorry Hull City fans.) Wills is the president of the Football Association, a figurehead position which always goes to someone in the royal family and which nevertheless seems like a nice perk of being second in line to the throne. If I were second in line to the throne of, um, Los Angeles, I would like to be president of the Dodgers. I HAVE NOTES. I would happily wear a smart blue ensemble to give them.
"Sorry you guys lost, bro. You'll get 'em next year." (This is the Hull City captain, Curtis Davies, who was apparently distraught by the loss. I do not follow soccer other than during the World Cup and the Olympics, so I am sure many of you in the comments can add more facts to this, but from what I hear, he is totally cute. Not that you can tell from this picture, beyond the fact that he's in good shape and his head is not square or something.)
How could I resist closing this with the Royal Photobomb? Next time, add jazz hands, Wills.
