Religious Wedding Of Prince Felix Of Luxembourg & Claire Lademacher

It's a relief to see that the bride's wee footman continue to be unimpressed. When I was a child -- I must have been five at the most -- I was the flower girl in a wedding and the ring bearer REFUSED to go on. My mom says that they were all sitting in the church after the bridesmaids came out, waiting and waiting and waiting (of course, she worried that it was ME that was the hold-up) and eventually I emerged, holding the rings in one hand and the flowers in the other. I believe this was the first instance in which I thought, "omg, if you want anything done right, you DO have to do it yourself." It is a relief to know that, through space, time, and geography, there are always small children who are totally disinterested in any kind of pomp and circumstance. (And bossy ones who like attention, like me.)

The wedding was held at the melodically named Basilique Sainte Marie-Madeleine in Saint Maximin La Sainte Baume, France. Claire here is wearing Elie Saab, like her sister-in-law Princess Stephanie before her.

This dress is quite beautiful. I think we all owe Kate Middleton a debt of gratitude for re-popularizing sleeved wedding dresses. They never truly went away -- after all, many brides need or prefer a modest gown for religious purposes -- but it's refreshing to see so many pretty sleeved options once again.

The veil and tiara are lovely; I am likewise a sucker for the "Last Look Back" shot, like this one of Middleton. It feels so slightly melancholy and ergo romantic.

Well, that venue is just totally generic and hideous and small and cramped and boring and uninspiring and totally lacks any sense of history or pageantry, right? My heart is so bleeding for her right now.

And her tiara -- Hello! thinks it's Grand Duchess Maria Teresa's diamond floral tiara, but I'm sure The Royal Order of Sartorial Splendor will weigh in definitively soon -- is glorious.
