# Well Played: Zhang Ziyi in Elie Saab at TIFF

This is exciting -- I've been waiting for someone to wear one of these.

The [original runway version had a blue belt](https://www.gofugyourself.com/high-fugshion-elie-saab-haute-couture-week-fall-2016-07-2016/elie-saab-runway-paris-fashion-week-haute-couture-fallwinter-2016-2017-3?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and if I'm being honest, I might miss it a little. I feel like I'm seeing a crease in the lining that I might not otherwise notice. (I also miss the model's makeup.) But it's a minor thing. The dress is, as I noted at the time, like an art deco city skyline, or a hallucinogenic mix of New York's skyscrapers with Lady Liberty's crown -- and it's regal and interesting and wholly unique. So too is the wearer, and I think they make a mighty magnificent match. Rooney Mara, be jealous. Givenchy granny panties cannot compare.
