It DID take me a really long time to realize that the pattern on this dress is not abstract, but it's actually monkeys. You know that somewhere, whomever is styling Keri Russell for Planet of the Apes is on the phone to someone, saying, "no, too on the nose for us." The pattern AND the ruffle take this right to the edge of cutesy for me, but I think it's abstract enough that it still works.

I think at this point, she's just like, "YES. I AM PREGNANT. I'm just going to be RUFFLY." (Although she hasn't officially confirmed it, as far as I can tell. Which is code for, "she hasn't told People that it's true."

I think this is one of those dresses that can be twee and irritating on the wrong woman, but totally charming and fabulous under the right circumstances and "subtly quasi-concealing a pregnancy" is very possibly one of those circumstances. [Photos: AKM/GSI]
