Something had to give. TIFF and New York Fashion Week always run concurrently and it's a celeb-swapping cluster, but layer the Met Gala on top of it and then factor in the Emmys this weekend, and I had a suspicion Toronto would be much less splashy than usual. And it was. But we got some Jessica Chastain and some Pacey, and Dionne Warwick, so let us accept those gifts from the universe and then begin getting excited for the cast of *Ted Lasso* in some awards finery.
