It's been awhile since we had a book-related Afternoon Chat, after all, and I know everyone wants recommendations as we head into prime poolside reading season. I just started [Hello, Sunshine, by Laura Dave (who wrote *Eight Hundred Grapes*),](https://www.amazon.com/Hello-Sunshine-Novel-Laura-Dave-ebook/dp/B0176M3X80/ref=sr%5F1%5F1?ie=UTF8&qid=1499819891&sr=8-1&keywords=hello+sunshine&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) and I'm really looking forward to getting some quality time with it this weekend.

Other recent reads on my bookshelf include:

\-- [Cynthia D’Aprix Sweeney's *The Nest,* ](https://amzn.to/2tc70MO?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)which I really liked, and which you will probably also like if you're into zesty reads about effed up families in New York (who isn't)?

\-- [Amor Towles's *A Gentleman in Moscow*](https://amzn.to/2tbZqld?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which I thought was simply delightful, and which I due to recommendations from all of you. Thanks, everyone!

\-- [Nina Rigg's memoir *The Bright Hour*](https://amzn.to/2sO0Qmx?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which is tremendously good -- sad, and beautiful, and very very moving. Despite the fact that it's about a woman dying of cancer -- and Riggs has, sadly, died since writing it -- it's not particularly depressing, to my mind. It's sad, yes, but it's also really wonderful and funnier than you might anticipate.

\-- [Dave Holmes's very funny memoir *Party of One*](https://amzn.to/2tLohP3?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), which we recently gave away here on GFY. It's a total pleasure. (I usually don't read this many memoirs.)

What about you?
