I don't necessarily love that the dress looks like it was made out of a tarp, but... I mean, they did a great JOB with the tarp. It's a cut we've seen before but it's effective and sexy. And her magnetism is considerable, because she can carry THAT much bling...

... and THAT MUCH cape. I actually like the whole ensemble more with the explosive wrap. It's hairy and whimsical, like Zach Galifianakis.

It's not that Ariana looks BAD in this. She doesn't! But this is VERY 1960s Sweet Sixteen Tea Party Barbie, so it doesn't work for me as cosplay and it also doesn't even really work for me in general for this. I wish Ariana had gone edgier and more adult, playing up the contrast between that and her character. Also, I feel like those shoes are a silver callback to the ruby slippers, but they're one of the few times I think a metallic shoe might've been a weaker choice. They're too clunky with this, I think.

Idina Menzel

I love her purse. That is a SUBTLE nod to her history with this role. Well done. She looks super.
