First of all, I would have LOVED this outfit on her in 1990 and I actually love it now. She could EASILY wear this today. Also: They were NOT romantically involved, as far as I could tell. Which is good because he's like 50 years older than she is. What a baby face! (She's only 19 here.)

I like to think that Nic Cage and Laura Dern talked about it and decided their looks for the night were ALL ABOUT SATIN. (I also am amused that Laura looks like she just smelled something awful.) Joy is Nicolas's mom; Laura Dern and Renny Harlin were dating at this point. I also enjoy that Nic Cage looks absolutely like a vampire here.
