WHO'S A GOOD DOG? The Irish Wolfhound Domhnall, obviously. As Informative Caption tells us, at this event, "350 soldiers will march onto the Parade Square at Cavalry Barracks led by their mascot, the Irish Wolfhound Domhnall. Her Royal Highness will step forward to present the shamrock to Officers and Warrant Officers, who will in turn issue it along the ranks. The parade will conclude with a march-past where His Royal Highness will take the salute." And then everyone goes back for a Guiness (seriously).

These two seemed very flirty with each other today and let's be real: It's because Wills looks very dashing in that uniform. It has long been my theory that Kate makes him wear that hat and sword around the house.

However, I am also extremely interested in THIS PERSON in those pants and those boots. NEVER has a photo looked more like a still from a movie where a beautiful woman with a penchant for whimsical hats (Kate) has needed to confer with a handsome high-ranking military official (this dude) about the state of the counter-espionage something something they're running, and whether or not his dashing brother (her secret lover) is going to escape from the Nazis or not.

This is a good coat. It looks a bit like this other McQueen coat she has but, of course, THAT coat isn't GREEN. (This new coat's belt/pockets configuration is better. Also, the bottom bit is more narrow, because the first one has a lot of pleating, because they're not nearly as much alike as I thought they were before I really looked at the blue one again for the first time in four years but whatever: Both are CLEARLY McQueen.)

"Damn it, Kate. This is HARRY's hat."
PS: I like these shoes on Kate. The chunkier heel is more au courant. (Per my friends at What Kate Wore, they're these Gianvito Rossis.)

Here's a good look at the back of this coat; this is the shot that made me think Kate was wearing a Sensible But Glamorous Retro Suit, and, frankly, I was excited about that. Next year!

Kate's hat has a LOT going on. I like it, but I also like it when hats are VERY hat-y -- although I know that were I to marry into the British royal family, I personally would be too scared to really go full hat. (God knows how that is gonna happen now that my plans to bewitch Harry into marrying a cranky old American blogger have been thwarted by his actually marrying a less cranky, less old, considerably more successful American part-time blogger. Do I have to marry...ANDREW? JEEZ. This is gonna be scandalous. Fergie, I'm sorry.)

This is fun, because I love photos of famous people drinking, and also because Kate actually rarely does drink at these things. (She has been pregnant at a lot of them, but she tends to not really drink in public at all, which I understand because I would be very stressed about accidentally getting drunk and telling everyone how much I love them, if I were her. [I am a much nicer drunk person than I am sober one.])

BOTTOMS UP, GUYS. And happy St. Patrick's Day to us all!
(May I sidebar and note how much I love the concept of the half-pint? Most bars in America do not do the half-pint and that is a MISTAKE.)
