Wills and Kate

The excess heat must make hearts grow fonder, because there are a lot of photos of these two gazing at each other. Maybe it reminds them of being on various royal tours!

Wills and Kate at Royal Ascot

This is a nice look both at Kate's hat, the lace on her dress, AND the pin that lets her into the royal enclosure. "HRH The Duchess of Cambridge" is a lot of letters to fit on a relatively small space.

Sophie Wessex, Kate, and their Husbands Whatstheirnames

This photo makes me laugh. Sophie looks SO ANNOYED by everyone. She's probably hot -- maybe she got chewed out for ditching Trooping the Color on Saturday -- but the whole thing is just profoundly, amusingly, cranky. I also assume that her giant necklace is enchanted and she's being forced by an evil queen in the netherworld to do unsavory deeds until the spell is broken. (The DMIK has pictures of all of these people laughing uproariously because Sophie lost her balance and almost landed in Kate's lap getting into the carriage; it's kind of great.)

Kate Wears McQueen to Royal Ascot

This is a good look at the side detailing of Kate's very intricate hat, but I also want to give a shoutout to the woman in black and white. I LOVE her dress.

Wills and Kate at Day One of Royal Ascot

"We're delighted by your racing acumen!"

Wills and Kate at Royal Ascot

It says something that Kate looks very pretty in this dress even though it's basically my mother's formal lace tablecloth. As I think I said last year, this is the one occasion where I think the beige shoes are probably the right call.

"Oh my god, I know you!" "And I know YOU!"

Much of the British Royal Family

This is a good group shot: Wills and Andrew are talking about something; Beatrice is trying not to pass out; Kate's admiring Zara's hat from afar; Anne is lecturing Zara about something; and Eugenie is showing us the cheeky top of her hat and seemingly ignoring everyone else.

Kate and Zara

Kate loves Zara's hat from afar AND aclose.

Chaz and Camz

This outfit is like Peak Camilla -- giant hat, feathers, a dramatic choker -- and I feel like you can tell that they're both dying for a g&t.

Camilla

I don't know who that is behind Camilla, but I enjoy that she's wearing the Evil Twin version of Camilla's hat, and is also a member of the Fancy Pearl Choker Club. (She looks fab, I think.)

Zara and Friend

Zara looks GREAT in this color -- this whole look is super on her -- and her friend's hat is AMAZING. I already cannot wait for our Ascot Hat Round-Up later this week.

Beatrice and Eugenie

The Yorks both look very nice, but Bea has to be sweltering, and for that reason alone, I'm giving today's York-Off to Euj. (Although I also perfer Eugenie's dress overall. I don't have a dress credit on it yet.)

Carole Middeleton and Michael Middleton

The Middletons were also in attendence. Carole is wearing GREAT shoes -- click on the photo to enlarge it and get a better look, if you like -- which I hope will eventually inspire her child.

Prince and Princess Michael of Kent

Speaking of inspirational, that is very nearly a caftan on Princess Michael, who continues to live her life dressed like the heroine in a Danielle Steele novel.

Princess Anne

No rest for the vigilant.

Queen Elizabeth II

Have you ever seen a woman MORE DELIGHTED to be kicking off a day at the races?
