This is just a good picture. I feel like this is going to be the cover of some serious, quasi-authorized biography called, like, WILLIAM: A RELUCTANT PRINCE or some shizz. It'll end with Kate making him realize blah blah blah better man yada yada duty to serve, etc. (I'm a real wordsmith.) But it is striking.
He comes as close to looking bedraggled here as ever, I think, and it's because the lining of his jacket makes it seem like his shirt is coming untucked. I do think Kate looks REALLY beautiful at this event, and very adult. (Sometimes she looks girlish, which is fine -- she is young -- but this is very Adult Beauty.)
This makes me laugh. It totally looks like William is going off on some rant that Kate's heard six or seven times already (everyone has that rant), and he's really getting up a satisfying head of steam and Kate is just like, "Mmm mmm. I know, honey. Thin cut marmalade IS wretched. I don't know why anyone eats it either."
If the other snaps were more hand-CLUTCHING, I think this counts as a proper hold. One OUGHT to hold the hand of one's spouse at a fancy gala for the university at which one's....self was...this sentence is spiraling out of control. Just look at the bracelet instead!
These earrings are...insane. They are spectacular. They are BEYOND.
"It's WATER, you guys, CHILL."
These two seemed really happy to see each other -- Eugenie especially, which is sweet. Maybe she misses her family, now that she's living in New York. Maybe she doesn't have anyone else to talk about how good their respective hair looks. (Seriously, this bob on Eugenie is really cute.)
What a hideous place to have an event, she said flatly. (I hope they got to stick their heads in the next room and visit the Egyptian stuff, and also make a few Mixed-Up Files jokes about bathing in the pool.)
I couldn't resist this photo, with the basketball WHIRLING THROUGH THE AIR through the shot.
In case you needed a reminder that they're actual proper sports fans, who probably sort of wished they could be there for the whole game. (They only were there for the second half, because they had a dinner -- there AT Barclays Center -- during the first half. This may also have been planned so they did not have to be on Kiss Cam and I'd like to say that I still feel robbed. ROBBED. I love Kiss Cam. I had friends -- who are NOT dating -- who ended up on Kiss Cam and THEY kissed.)
"This popcorn is really surprisingly good. Have some."
PS: One of these shots will end up in Us Weekly's "THEY'RE JUST LIKE US!" round-ups, just mark my words.
Some of these photos popped up after I'd already written the Basketball Post -- to my annoyance --- but I know you wanted a better look at what Beyonce wore. I feel like the Ladylike Blouse and Pencil Skirt was TOTALLY intentional, because she wanted to look cute and appropriate, and I think that's totally endearing.
This photo is cute to me. LeBron was delighted by the entire thing, per his Instagram, and although certain parties (the Daily Mail) got worked up about him putting his arm around her, everyone else (including the Palace and even the more traditional royals reporters we follow) said it was NBD. Thank God, because this is totally both Kate's AND LeBron's Piano Picture. They may both trim William out of the shot.
I do not know what it is happening here, but it is amazing. They're heading into a reception and I am pretty sure William is about to lean over and tell that woman that she's made a typo. WHY DOESN'T THAT EVER HAPPEN TO ME? I make so many typos and no princes EVER TELL ME ABOUT THEM.
Wills also went to the Empire State Building. No, William, you cannot see England from there.
This was when they were visiting kids at The Door, and I can only assume William is telling a super dorky Dad joke. It's funny how a joke that you think is soooo embarrassing from your Dad when you are 15 turns actually very cute when the person telling it is your husband.
A very nice story came out today about how impressed Wills was by the performance they say from these kids at The Door. Apparently, he gave them his contact info. (There is video with that story, so have your computer sound off if need be.)
"Harry is never going to let me live this down."
THE QUEEN IS ALWAYS WATCHING, KATE. ALWAYS.
See you kids next time! Say hi to George for us. We miss him.
