The Duke and Duchess Of Cambridge Visit India and Bhutan - Day 6

These two are for sure in excellent physical condition. But it sort of makes me chuckle that Wills looks mildly winded -- as a human would be, mid-hike -- and Kate legit looks like she just spent the last hour sitting in a deck chair reading a book. I've always laughed at those crackpots who claimed she ensnared Wills with "sexual sorcery" (a direct quote, and as I've said before, PLEASE teach a class at the Learning Annex, girl, because we're all interested in hearing more) but I am beginning to think...maybe she actually IS magic. And, frankly, being a Duchess who had secret magical powers is a set up for a book I want to read. Like...Bewitched plus The Royal We. Damn it, why didn't we think of that like three years ago?

"We're touching in public!"

"It's fun! Let's do it more often!"

This is a piano picture for you.

Informative Caption tells us that this is the rest point halfway to the Tiger's Nest monastery -- seen behind them -- where I assume the monks were waiting for them with snacks. (If I understand correctly, you basically make this particular hike so you can see the monastery perched on the side of the mountain, and then, if you like, you can continue to the monastery itself, which they did do, but the press did not. I think. )

Obviously, I downloaded the pic of them hiking with their arms around each other.

Twice, even.

These are prayer wheels, I believe, at the museum that is located half-way through the hike. Have any of you done this hike? Tell us all! I need details! My understanding is that it is LONG but not SUPER strenuous. I suppose that all depends on your definition of strenuous, though.

Fashionwise, Kate's wearing a Jaeger top, her safari jeans (I think; that's some multi-use packing there), and these boots that she's LITERALLY had for like...ten years or something. Since well before they were married. Those must be deeply worn in by this point.

Yeah, that view's pretty decent, I guess.

Speaking of pretty decent, this dress is Beulah and I LOVE IT. I love it so much I just accidentally misspelled "love." The poppies are a shout-out to their host country, as it is the national flower of Bhutan (and, obviously, it's probably also a nod to the Wicked Witch of the West, Kate's coven leader). The color, the cut, the pattern. Divine. PLEASE DRESS MORE LIKE THIS AT HOME, DUDE.

"Wait, what happened on The Real Housewives of New York? No, no, don't tell me. I want to watch it when I get home. Is it Ramona? No, really, I don't want to know. No, go ahead and tell me."

Bhutan looks amazing, and I really wish I could visit, and I would LOVE to arrive at the top of this mountain and see this gorgeous, historic monastery, and this majestic vista. And yet I am ALSO glad that no one made me hike for several hours this morning, so, you know...we'll call it even today, Kate. Kinda. Okay, not really, because I covet tonight's dress mightily. It is simply divine. I bring you a little extra A/V assistance today. I think my favorite part of this is how you can see all the reporters/security/their personal retinue etc scrambling after them -- although also I think much of the press pack went ahead of them, to be there when they arrived (you know I love Royal Logistics): Will & Kate arrive at end of their trek to Tiger's Nest #RoyalVisitBhutan pic.twitter.com/FUTxKHeCkq — Simon Perry (@SPerryPeoplemag) April 15, 2016 I feel like, if you're not in good shape for a looooooooooong stroll up a mountain in very high altitude, you probably found yourself wishing you'd trained harder for this about twenty minutes in. Emily Andrews at The Sun made me laugh when she noted they weren't really tweeting much on the hike because they were all too busy trying to breath and also service is bad at the top of a mountain.
