This coat is my everything. Tiny blue and black houndstooth, a sharp proper collar, a little subtle belt PLEASE BE MINE, CHRISTOPHER KANE COAT. (TECHNICALLY, per the release, and via Monique Jessen on Twitter, Kate is wearing "a bespoke Christopher Kane 'slim fitted dogtooth wool tailored coat with belt' & 'mini dogtooth wool kilt with belt.'" Mayhap a tiny houndstooth is "dogtooth" because dogs have tinier teeth than hounds do. That all tracks for me.)

Whatever it technically is, I love it. I personally have a strong and powerful love for the black turtleneck/black tights/black boots/bright kilt combo, and have worn it many times in my life, although more hideously and assuredly more cheaply.

What better time to turn to Informative Caption than here, where it appears that Kate is being allowed to captain a ship? (Which, in fairness, she has done before.) Ahem: "[Wills and Kate] are seen during their visit to the original Royal Research Ship Discovery...The Discovery carried Scott and Shackleton on their first expedition to the Antarctic." So...they're not going to let her take it? Fine. (I appreciate that Wills is just standing there, letting her hair blind him.)

Royally Played: Wills and Kate (in Christopher Kane) Visit Scotland

So, Wills & Kate are in Scotland today, where they had FIVE events on the docket (the Duchess Kate Blog has a good run-down of what all they did, as ever) and where they also get to be called The Earl and Countess of Strathearn, which must make for a fun change of pace. They also apparently had a date night last night at St. Andrews where, obviously, they first met, which is possibly why they look so chipper today. Allow me to be frank: Kate's coat. I LOVE IT. I think she looks terrific.
