# Wow, This Is Such a Plummet for Sydney Sweeney

I'm not even referencing Sydney Sweeney's [American Eagle ad controversy](https://deadline.com/2025/08/sydney-sweeney-jeans-ad-american-eagle-response-1236476850/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (short version: It's involves genes/jeans puns that some folks felt tipped into trying to make eugenics sexy), or the fact that she cozied up to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez at their wedding. No, I'm talking about the fact that [her style had gotten a little bit better](https://www.gofugyourself.com/celebs/sydney-sweeney?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), FINALLY, only for her to pop up at the *Americana* premiere looking like she's attending the Enchantment Under The Sea dance in 1955\. The Danielle Frankel dress does at least FIT -- it should; it's custom -- but I actually recoiled from the style and from the absurd headband. Maybe it's less *Back to the Future* than Sandy from *Grease* about to do the hand-jive. Neither suits her. Halsey over there is serving Smurfy Paramore cosplay and I like it a thousand times better, and that's WITH the fact that they're wearing a combination mullet and bowl cut.
