Karla Welch's newsletter had a fascinating story about this dress: Basically, FedEx lost Lashana Lynch's trunk with all her clothes for these events. (Karla is quick to point out she's used them for 20 years and that's never happened before, which then made me wonder how much she spends at FedEx each year. Logistics!) They scrambled with late-minute phonecalls and got a custom dress out of it. While I didn't love the overall design, what a miracle that it's there at all.
