Zendaya is just so GOOD at understanding and capturing a moment. A Friday evening news cycle is typically when people are checked out for the weekend, but she kept us paying attention. This is one of those concepts that works because every component of it is on-point: perfect wearer, perfect fit, sculpted for her and possibly even ON her at times.

And she had fun with it; how can you not? What must it feel like to show up somewhere like this and just KNOW you have stuck the landing.

I downloaded a lot of photos, apparently.

This, I picked to give you a sense of the workmanship. I cannot believe it's leather, and still looks tissue-thin. I like leather here and there, but generally think of it as a clunkier fabric when it comes to dresses. Not so AT ALL here.

And then I couldn't resist the black-and-white because it's such a fabulous photo. I would put that one on my wall if I were her.

And this was for the eye-contact, and the necklace. That jewel... I haven't seen the original Dune but I know there's a sandworm, and I've decided this jewel-eating serpent was an homage to that.

In motion: STILL GOOD.

On a boat dock? STILL REAL GOOD.

It even works from behind. You know I typically don't love an exposed zipper, but this one bothers me less because it's just the metal part, and not the black cloth on the sides.

This, I like less. I know, I know. The slouchy oversize coolness of it all fits with Zendaya's aura very well, but I still can't help feeling like it makes her look more childlike -- as if she's a kid playing in her parents' closet.

I wonder if it would have been enough without the blazer, although that was part of the runway look, too -- this is, other than the shoes, pretty much head-to-toe how it was presented. I do think Zendaya looks better in it? She is, in general, the context that can make sense of almost any outfit, which is pretty amazing.

That was as close to clambering as I could get. This may have been a giant pain in the ass to wear on a boat. On the plus side, if they run afoul of the engine and need a sail, she's RIGHT there.
