# Zendaya Gives Us The Sleeve Drama We Had Anticipated

Jessica and I sincerely expected more women to be wearing sculptural or unusual sleeves, just because... well, I don't know. This stuff is like meteorology. You can see various signs and you can interpret them in a way that makes sense to you, but sometimes it just freaking rains when you thought it wouldn't, and that's it. (Double case-in-point: [I called this for... Oookay, Heather.)

Anyway, Zendaya cuts a very elegant figure in this, and her enviable posture eliminates the risk that a dress slipping off her shoulder might make *her* somehow appear to be drooping. It's very polished, and the color choice is both unusual and virtually guaranteed not to be seen on anyone else. People don't generally do brown outside of UPS or suits. So that's smart styling, and a thousand breathless trend pieces will be born.

The sleeve is its own dress. It could clothe a child. It could contain a whole change of clothing. Is it too much? Is it ungainly? Is it just right? Or is it, once again, the magic of Zendaya playing all sorts of starry tricks on us?
