Fugs and Pieces, June 16th, 2017

Happy weekend, friends! I hope yours is a good one. Until it starts, something for you to read:

-- Here, ICYMI, we did a fun shopping post all about CAFTANS you might want.

-- The Hairpin theorizes that The 1830s Are Back Like A Statement Sleeve

-- This is quite a read, at Buzzfeed. Let me give you just the lede: "When a financier dropped dead in Britain shortly after exposing a vast Russian crime, police said it was not suspicious. But with his inquest now underway, BuzzFeed News has uncovered explosive evidence of a suspected Kremlin assassination plot – and a secret assignation in Paris on the eve of his death – that the British authorities have sidelined." It's long, but I recommend taking time to read the whole thing.

-- At Atlas Obscura: A 257-Year-Old Coloring Book Was Discovered in St. Louis

-- At Lainey, this is an interesting and detailed story about Rebel Wilson and a defamation case she recently won. It's more interesting than that sounds.

-- Also at Lainey, this is a VERY amusing conspiracy theory about Lorde.

-- This story, at the New York Times, is sad and fascinating, a time-machine of an obituary, and it reads like a book: Death of a Downtown Icon: Remembering Benjamin Cho. Heather and I went to a Benjamin Cho show during one of our first fashion weeks and it was profoundly memorable -- it was the only time I've ever swigged Bud Light in the same apartment as Chloe Sevigny.  That he met such a sad end is a real tragedy.

-- Town & Country brings us A Guide to Jane Austen's English Countryside

-- At Smithsonian, a little hot old school gossip, and proof that politics has NEVER been polite: Rachel Jackson, the Scandalous Divorcee Who Almost Became First Lady.

-- Modern Farmer brings us a List of 10 Extremely Good Goat Beards.

-- Our friends at Revelist tried Stitch Fix's new fashion box for plus-size women. (Do you use Stitch Fix? I don't, because I DO NOT need anymore things to buy, but I know Heather does and generally likes it.)

-- At Pajiba, a valentine to Brendan Fraser.

-- Celebitchy brings you a Cumberbatch Update, if you need one, which you might.

-- The New Potato has DIY summer face masks, which I am really into.

-- This pop-up book -- full of paper models of Frank Lloyd Wright's most famous buildings -- is amazing. [Curbed]

-- The Stripe brings us a VERY easy cocktail that I wish I were drinking RIGHT NOW.

-- At Into the Gloss: The best body scrubs. (Personally, I love the Bliss Peppermint one but it's so expensive that I can't really justify it.)

-- Celine Dion is launching a line of accessories! WILL ONE BE BASED ON THE HEART OF THE OCEAN? No, because right now it's just handbags, but check out this detail: "Each bag will feature the sound wave of Dion’s voice on the interior." INDEED. [Jezebel]

--I LOVED this post at Girl of a Certain Age, where everyone is telling Kim their favorite memories of Sassy.
