Fugs & Pieces, May 31st, 2019

Ah, it's the weekend! I hope yours is a delight.

In case you missed it, we had a rollicking conversation this week full of people asking, and answering, vacation and travel related questions.

I also rounded up some cute sandals!

JUICY, at Esquire: The Secret Oral History of Bennington: The 1980s' Most Decadent College

At LAST! At the New York Times: "Margaret Leslie Davis, the author of “The Lost Gutenberg: The Astounding Story of One Book’s Five-Hundred-Year Odyssey,” has tracked down the history of a Gutenberg Bible, composing a lively tale of historical innovation, the thrill of the bibliophile’s hunt, greed and betrayal. "

At Lainey, Kit Harington has gone into rehab.

Logistics! At the Washington Post, a look at the complex LAUNDRY SYSTEMS of the French Open, and other major tennis tournaments. (Clay is hard to get out!)

This is VERY VERY INTERESTING, at Vanity Fair: Can J. Crew Find Itself—and Its Customers—Again?

The New York Times has a piece where the Central Park Five discuss their lives and story with the actors who play them in the Netflix miniseries, When They See Us

,

and it's very good. (The miniseries is out today, in fact.)

Also at Lainey, I thought this was interesting: Zoe Kravitz and the celebrity low-key wedding trend.

This is super interesting, at the Washington Post: What a stolen Alexander Hamilton letter reveals about the sticky business of fine art. To wit: "It’s just the latest drama for the Alexandria auction house, which has also handled a stolen Renoir, a Russian painting looted during World War II, an original Andy Warhol and historic urns from Arlington Cemetery. The world of fine arts can be intimidating, puzzling — and sometimes kind of sketchy."

This headline made me laugh, at Pajiba: Look. Kate Hudson(s) Love Leggings. Deal With it OK?

Great, at The Daily Beast: The Forgotten Tale of How Black Psychiatrists Helped Make ‘Sesame Street’

I ALSO chuckled at this one, at Dlisted: Cara Delevingne And Ashley Benson Bought A Sex Bench (it's like a full-on sex bench, a thing I didn't really know existed. A sex SWING, sure, but I was unaware of how much, uh, sex furniture existed until this week).

At Socialite Life, this is a real story (and aspects of it are really serious) but it also reads like a Mad Lib: Mandy Moore Reaches Mount Everest Base Camp as Death Toll Rises to 11 This Season.  There are some serious issues afoot with Mount Everest at the moment, and while I really like Mandy Moore and I understand and respect why she wanted to do this -- it's obviously a great item for a bucket list! -  and I also get why she wanted to tell the world about it, I wonder if it's responsible at this point to promote making this climb?

Important, at Vulture: Every Spice Girls Song, Ranked. I actually think I agree with the top three, which hardly ever happens with lists like these!

ALSO important, ALSO at Vulture: The Good Fight Is Coming to Real CBS So You Can’t Deny It Actually Exists

This also reads like a Mad Lib, at Celebitchy: Amy Heckerling’s daughter slaps back at Chris Kattan’s account of her mom. That is not a feud I could have predicted! This story is also...messy as hell?

On the SNL topic, this is very good at Polygon: The Saturday Night Live queer canon

At The Mary Sue: Harrison Ford Started the Millennium Falcon at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
