So far, Halle Bailey has picked outfits for The Little Mermaid that point toward the setting -- netting, fins, shells and/or cresting waves, etc. I can't quite figure this one out, so I assume she abandoned ship (har) on that theme, unless the lopsided symbolizes... the see-sawing of the tides, and the patchy pattern is... the... slow death of our coral reefs? Let's go with that.
